Throughout Elon Musk’s tumultuous courtship with Twitter, that eventually resulted in his purchasing the company in late October for $44 billon, one legal question has hung over the whole saga: could Musk back out of the deal? While there are many ways to structure a contract, once both parties have agreed, the options when one party wants to bail and the other wants to go through with the deal are more limited.
