Hell yea. The most important thing is just that you keep training and eating. I wouldn't be surprised if doing things like eating protein within the first 30 minutes helps to some extent (same with things like creatine – have it immediately before and after your workout... there are studies on this stuff). But either way, if you're training and eating well, you're going to get results, with or without supplements, and with or without being super strict about when you eat.

Never taken ice baths but I take cold showers a lot. I don't really notice a difference in recovery. I just like it. Same with things like the 30 minute eating window, actually. I never notice a difference in recovery, which is why I suspect the difference is pretty insignificant.

I train to feel good and get fitter. The muscle mass will come eventually no matter what, but the most important thing is just improving yourself. Seems like you have the same mentality. If we wanted to just get as big as possible, we'd just lift weights. But that's not nearly as fun as doing bodyweight exercises :)

I think ice bathing benefits people differently depending on the type of athlete they are. For example when I was a swimmer, we would ice bathe all the time. Usually every day after a meet. I could tell it really helped me recover and be ready to go the next day. However, after retiring from swimming and just becoming an everyday weightlifter, nothing too competitive or intense, I just don't think they're as beneficial for me any more because I'm really not going high intensity for long periods of time on my legs. So I think it yields more benefits to runners, swimmers, etc.

@pigmie I'm 49 years old. Been lifting seriously since I was 22. I've been experimenting with supplements for most of that time. Nothing will ever be better than real good whole foods. But supplements definitely give you the.001% that makes a HUGE difference in the long run. I can tell you at my age that eating the right things at the right times before and after a workout absolutely makes a huge difference. I actually lose muscle mass within a day if I am not eating right and at the right times. I recently learned a few key lessons about gaining muscle mass at older ages. 1. some carbs after a workout is totally and completely necessary. Yup, muscles need clean carbs (rice cakes with almond butter is what I eat). 2. Protein after a workout will help, but only if it is fast absorbing. Like a high quality whey shake. A whey shake with those carbs was stop loss for what I thought was over training. Took me a couple of years before I figured that one out. 3. Older guys need 1 more gram of protein (3 grams vs 2 grams) per pound than younger guys.. I eat two egg whites with every single meal. Many people claim yolks are good to eat. Maybe 1 or two a day but never more than that if at all. I've been eating egg whites for almost 28 years. Without them I never see nearly as many gains. 4. Always eat a few big bites of cottage cheese before bed. The casein really helped add growth during my sleep. 5. get a fuck ton of sleep. Sleep every chance you get. Growth hormones are REALLY hard for old farts to come by. Sleep is the best way if you can't get your hands on HGH. I could go into the diet I have perfected over the years but that would be 3 pages.

When you talked about how people thank you about how they can now do a backflip reminded me of one of my buddies. He was feeling pretty ballsy one day and counted to 5 and nailed a back flip. He had no idea he could do one.

As someone who's doing intermittent fasting + flexible dieting...I don't believe that there's a 30m window for taking protein after working out. I only eat one meal a day (therefore having protein shakes after workout during the day would break my fast), and it's been working for me amazingly. I think it differs from individual to individual!

Hi bro, so I don't usually express my opinion but since you asked for it I will try to tell you what I know.

As far as the 2nd myth is concerned I heard (from my StreetWorkout trainer with 7/8 years experience in the business) that there is such a this as an anabolic hour. So basically after workout your metabolism is much faster and muscles accept carbs with a bigger rate.

With that being said I think that the faster you consume a normal meal (don't get too crazy with the carbs thing) the higher is the metabolism and the bigger the gain. I don't think the difference is significant, but doing that on every workout can result in a better long term effect.

Peace man keep on with the channel :D I'm making mine now wish me luck xd

I don't worry too much about ingesting this and that at the perfect time. I'm getting stronger even if I'm caloric deficit during the week. I think the important thing is to FOCUS on good form and measuring progress, the body is made to adapt to challenges we present it:)

so after workout:

lose fat: immediatly eat 2 blue donuts and one nut (idc where you get that from or whether you're allergic)

gain weight: eat a pizza with extra pepperoni and drink 0.5l sprite

increase attack speed and armor at the same time(!!!): turn on bluetooth on your mobile, and then i want you focus and connect with your mobile, play 3 rounds of flappy bird and eat a banana. with the peel.

dont need any of that protein shit

I know I'm super late but for me I have tried many different things and the timing really hasn't drastically mattered. But I guess it is more towards what you are aiming for with using the protein. I have found more results in worrying about the supplements I take as opposed to worrying when I take them.

Protein is protein no matter where you get it from or when you take it. As long as you are hitting your daily caloric intake and your macro nutrients, you will gain muscle if you are eating in a surplus.
