Something like this literally just happened to me. I was brought a friend to my favorite taco place, and he started unloading this work story on me and I was like, "I'm sorry and I promise I'm listening, but you are already well aware these seats DO have a time limit and we haven't ordered and you can continue your story while we wait."

It took both me and the waitress working together to get him to order something in between story details.
