In this video Heimler walks you through Unit 2 Topics 10 and 11 for the AP Government curriculum (2.10 & 2.11). This one is all about the action of the Supreme Court and how the other branches can check it.

There are two basic postures the Court can take. Judicial activism means the Court considers not only the letter of the law but also the law's broader impact on society. Judicial restraint indicates a Court that overturns laws only when it clearly violates the actual letter of the Constitution. Both liberal leaning and conservative leaning Courts have been activist and restrained.

But whichever way the Court leans, both Congress and the President have ways to check its power, and we'll see examples of each in this video.
