In my opinion the “t” and “d” sounds in English need an specific training for no native speakers because in other languages these sounds are quite different, for example the sound “d” in Spanish is closer to the “th” voiced sound (like in “that or this”) and the “t” Spanish sound is pushing the tongue against the upper teeth but BARELY TOUCHING The upper palate , which makes the sound complete different.
No one explains this kind of things when they are teaching pronunciation and the placement of the tongue and the point of articulation are one of the most important things when it comes to produce properly a new sound that doesn’t exist in your native language
