I really hate how age-restriction in general is a death sentence...even from the user perspective, being unable to add videos to playlists or find them on the suggestions is just a hassle. YouTube slapped the age restriction system in a rush to deal with legal issues caused by their negligence, and it's been a blight on the website ever since, and it's only ever gotten worse. Absolutely appalling.

I still to this day fail to understand why "child safe" is even a concern. YouTube kids literally exists and has millions of videos pumped through it.

Every time a major channel like RTGame goes public, remember that this also happened to thousands of small channels. Thousands of creators who have seen their dreams of making YouTube their career vanish overnight with no recourse or voice.

It's impressive how YouTube manages to fuck literally EVERYTHING up. Makes YT Kids, but doesn't let you create content for late-teens to adults. Removes dislikes, making it difficult to tell if a tutorial is good or not. Retroactively ruins lives of their employees.

YouTube is full of looneys who keep shooting YouTube in the knees. I'm so sorry this is happening, hopefully YouTube can pull their heads out of their asses and do something positive for once.

I had my entire channel demonetized (with over 1300 videos in total), because according to YouTube, my videos were 'reused content' which doesn't qualify for monetization. After pushing and pushing the youtube team to explain what they actually meant by 'reused content', they said that it's because the vast majority of my videos contain similar titles.... now, on a freaking GAMING channel, you're very, very often going to have the words 'gameplay' or 'playthrough' or 'review' or 'lets play' in the title of your video, and they said that the system identified a pattern and my entire channel was demonetized because of it (not just 1 or 2 videos.... my ENTIRE channel), just because I use the same words in the title repeatedly according to the algorithm they wrote. YT is absolutely broken

it was heartbreaking to listen to you at 14:35, talking about how you witnessed your content slowly fading away before your eyes. i cant imagine how it must have felt actually experiencing it first hand. what youtube has done here is extremely disgusting. they really need to be held accountable for their actions. they cant keep getting away with the awful way they treat their creators.

It gets much worse when you observe youtube's patterns and realize what their actual objective is: it's to cut out content creators while still running ads for profit. Note that with the new policy, they can (and will) still run ads on your content, you just won't get paid for them. So they are using these heavy handed policy changes as a way to manufacture an excuse to cut content creators out of the revenue pool, still run the ads, and keep all the profit for themselves.

How can we improve our content if YouTube refuses to even tell us what we're doing wrong? It's just absurd they don't give us the timestamps they already have. Thanks for speaking out about this, more people need to know how backwards this system is. Really hope you get your videos back, love your content!

It's appalling that YouTube can keep maintaining this absurd lack of transparency, especially when they're making such dramatic sweeping changes to a system that affects people's livelihoods. It cannot be fair that we learn about policy changes by someone retroactively getting struck down for violating them, and their approach to the review system is deeply flawed. It's awful that this happened, RT, every creator is watching their backs now in fear of YouTube's mood swings.

Times are changing and we have to appeal to greedy corporate schemes as content creators.

The final knife twist is really the part where they won’t let you fix your content to match their unpredictable new rules. As others have said, it’s blatantly obvious YT are trying to cut creators out of the revenue pool to increase their own profits. These are the same creators who have helped YT grow to the platform it is today, and have brought in literally hundreds of billions of dollars. It’s despicable, and Daniel we’re all so sorry you’ve been made a victim of this. Whatever happens next, whatever you choose to do and wherever you go, we’ll be there with you. In these last few years Youtube has been stabbing creators on the back, but this instance feels like a personal vendetta against all that won't submit to their stupid demands. This is beyond heartbreaking, knowing that a creator is safer if they can hide from Youtube.

Retroactively applying new policies to old content + giving creators only one shot to appeal their videos whilst not specifying what's wrong is an INSANE combo; it's like someone at YT played Mario Party and decided "Yo, what if we turned the site into Chance Time"

Glad you're able to fall back on Twitch, though, hope you get some sort of resolution to your YT content
