20L5/14L5/BVM? Dark Lines - fix with CLP P DLY setting

On occasion I've had different video game consoles display darker horizontal lines through the image. Adjusting the "CLP P DLY" setting in the service menu of my Sony PVM-20L5 and 14L5 (want to say maybe my BVM-D20 and similar monitors as well - not positive) fixes this issue.
This video is showing Xbox 360 set to 480p 4:3, which is then downscaled to 240p with a TVOne Corio2 downscaler, but I've had to adjust this setting when the 360 is hooked up straight to the monitor, and other consoles like OG Xbox (running straight 480p), and maybe Dreamcast too. Once it's set you shouldn't have to ever adjust it again.
Had to change the "Clamp" setting on other non-Sony monitors as well or the entire image is dark (had to change this on my Panasonic DT-M3050W widescreen multiformat CRT monitor for instance).
