Maybe Dom is different in the other movies because his outlook on life changed after Brian gave him the second chance at the end of the first movie. One of the last bits of character development we get other than Brian going full native.

6:15 them hanging out with the Supra should have been left in because it provided some good backstory to Leon and to be honest on a hot summer day in LA this wouldn't be out of place as long you ignore the fact they look a 90s - 2000s boy band posing for a photo shoot LOL

The drivers license scene was so good, I don’t think It would’ve added anything to the story line so it’s a good choice it wasn’t in the movie but I’m glad i could watch it.

Seems like the scene where Hector is being cagey about how he knows Tran blew up the Eclipse is meant to give more reason for Brian to be suspicious of him, prompting the break-in later.

when dom crashed into the truck at the end of this movie, he hit his head hard and went into a coma.. the rest of the franchise with him is just dom's imagination and dreams in his sleep.. the reason everything being so absurd and extra

2:49 She was patching up Dom due to getting shot by one of Braga's men. You could tell she enjoyed it a little.

Most of the car parts that the camera pans over was “s**t outta my garage”, to quote Craig Lieberman. That would explain how random they are

Considering Han supposedly painted his RX7 orange because Dom was working on an Orange Camaro ss in furious 6, anything is possible in these damn films lol

honestly that scene where they're talking about their first time driving seems genuine. like even Dom at the and that's how he talks in real life

Watching this movie with all deleted scenes included would be thoroughly enjoyable. Doesn’t matter how pointless so many of these are…love it

Craig Lieberman actually had a video where he laughs about there being doubles of parts on the table, as well as stuff that's not for a 2jz. I think he said there was some 350 SBC parts in there, even.

As someone who was a teenager with a coupe as his first car, if you are in the moment, you make it work. 😂

The director did say as much as he enjoyed filming this scene with guys chilling out talking about there experiences getting a licence etc that it severely slowed the pacing down and grinded it to a halt for the movie at that point when chan was being arrested and o'connor being involved in the busts.

Definitely there was some drama in 1 that was never brought up again in the same way, 3 tried but it was too superficial, 1 develops a huge ammount of interesting topics:

Dom and his demons about he never overcame his father's death, how Brian understand's life isn't black or white and how Dom had a clear motivation to assault Kenny, Brian blowing up his cover and betraying people who embraced him and loved him sacrificing that "life" to save someone he disliked, how groups change member's personalities for the benefit of the group, they were all common people with common issues who liked cars, Brian coming from a tough early life himself resonated to them... everything after 1 minus 3 is a joke, there's no drama, there are no issues, they joke even in the hardest of situations.

Even the soundtrack, that piano tune that sounds when Dom shows Brian the Charger, all the soundtrack for the next 8 films is action ost mixed with party songs, you can't take that seriously.

They really should have brought Leon back he had one of coolest cars in the film and dom is right up until you drive is like one life time, then when you drive it’s completely different.

This whole car parts and chatting scene looks so "Real World", no punchlines or valuable commentary

These are great observations, but I have to interject, the line in the garage where dom is talking about nothing mattering, you said that wasn't in line with his character because the rest of the franchise he's focused on family. Well, he's focused on family in the first film too, and that line is defintely in line with his character. He was explaining that how, for that short time on the track, he can let go of all of his responsibilities, and for that brief time he can escape, and nothing else matters. not family, friends, mortgage, business, illegal heists, nothing matters. Because its his short time to himself where he can hit the reset button and let go of all of the stuff he spends the rest of his time obsessing over. Makes perfect sense, too, because the more you care about something, the more you need an occasional break from it.
