Canada wasn't even born yet in 1812, it was just sparsely populated British colonies

it was mostly natives and settlers who fought in that war, not British soldiers. The British were mostly preoccupied elsewhere, though naval power on the coast was a huge help indirectly.

Basically, America was feeling high and mighty and decided to invade the nearly undefended British colonies to the north. They were repelled by a lesser force and pushed back, white house was set ablaze and it ended (this all took a few years). No land was claimed or occupied, Canadians/Brits were just happy knowing they had taught Americans a lesson that would surely last 200 years at least... Lol

They should have seen this coming. The Canadian companies affected by these tariffs should have had their sales persons out worldwide looking for new customers instead of sitting back and hoping for Trudeau to save the day. You snooze you lose!

I think it shows how strong bonds can go when the President of the United States has a tense moment with the Prime Minister of Canada while most of us are getting along just fine. However the comment that was made goes to show how misinformation can be passed around on both sides and that when it is acted upon can really hurt individuals.
