Have the same exact truck same color package, and I love it. If you aren't hauling over 15000 lbs, the 7.3 Godzilla is definitely the way to go.

Last week near my farm; regular gasoline $3.67, No 2 diesel $4.87. I love my new 7.3. The diesel only works if you tow heavy trailer ALL the time.

Most people aren't old enough to remember the big gassers . The international Black Diamonds the 427 chevy for an example . They dominated trucking for a while

Great video! These 7.3 gas trucks are amazing and an incredible value for the power and utility you get. Not to mention it seems like there are a lot less headaches.

We have the 7.3 F250 XLT FX4 and pull a light weight fifth wheel in the Rocky Mountain Region in Wyoming. Big Horn Mountains to be exact. Our truck does fantastic! For the those naysayers who say to come west. It’s tried and true hauling all over the state. Love this truck!

As a Ford tech I want to thank you for this PSA. The diesel guys always seem to hate on our 6.2 and 7.3 gas trucks. Those same diesel guys do not tow, tow very low weights or are more interested in racing their 8000+ pound rigs. The 7.3 is a gem... pushrod, no cylinder deactivation, no direct injection, 6 bolt mains, cast iron block... need I say more? Our 6.7 is great; however, too many owners want to come crying to our dealer when they get constant CEL/drivability concerns due to EPA related emissions issues. Sludge/EGR buildup is a nightmare on any modern diesel. I cant be mad though... the diesel guys and their 6.7s keep my workflow strong lol.

For the "try it in the Rocky's" people. There is a guy that sold me on the Godzilla with 1 video and he was towing in the Rocky's. He towed a gooseneck with a full blown case backhoe on it. He weighed it on the scales for a total combined gross weight of 32, 020. Grossly overloaded. The slowest he got down to was 53 mph up a 7 percent grade. I personally own a Godzilla powered tremor. I pulled 11700 from San Diego California to Reno NV. We had a combined gross weight of about 20k. I pulled cajon pass at 65 mph between 7th which is 1to1 and 8th which is overdrive between 2500 rpm and 3500 rpm. On the flats I hardly knew the trailer was there. Then I put it in the worst possible towing condition with that load. From Bishop California to Reno there is a mountain that is called mammoth for a reason. It goes from roughly 4k feet to 9k feet in about 10 miles. It was 107 degrees in Bishop California and 85 at the top. Mind you this is the east side of Yosemite. I pulled that load passing everyone. I maintained 65 all the way to the top. The highest it rpm I saw was 4500 rpm. It jumped between 5th and 6th depending on the grade. When I got to the top it was suffering from the elevation but still had plenty of power. I think what he says in the video is very true. Under 12k I wouldn't even consider the diesel at this point.

Fuel Costs : With Diesel at $ 4.50 / Gal . + the D.E.F. Costs and you're at $5.00/ Gal. all Day. I buy regular gas here in NY at $ 3.50 Gal. on Avg.

At 15 MPG with the F250 6.7 Diesel, your AVG. Fuel Cost is: $ .33 / Mile

At 12.5 MPG with the 7.3 Gasser, you're AVG. Fuel Cost is: $ .28 / Mile

So the Difference is appox. $ .05 / Mile

Assuming 20, 000 / Year it's $ 1, 000 less costs to run a 7.3 Gasser.

9.3 MPG towing a 8500lbs trailer through the Rockies, Cascades and Sierras. Same unhitched mileage. Love my 2020 Godzilla powered F250 Lariat.

Great review ! I’ve also switched one of the diesels for the 7.3, I occasionally tow my 33 foot 5th wheel (12, 000lbs) I went with the max gvw package 4:30 gearing. It’s a little more thirsty than the 6.7 but with 8 quart oil changes, six dollar oil filters and no def I’m ahead.

Awesome video. I currently have an F-250 6.2L gas. Towing our (estimated/loaded) 8500 pound 32ft travel trailer is really great. My region is more flat land. But, have climbed hills in Eastern Tennessee, with no problems. Looking to get the new 7.3L as next truck. Diesel trucks are great and strong but, Not a fan of government emissions bs.

I really LOVE that you put some mileage under the tires and got back to us - not 10 weeks later or ten years, but just enough to know... Thank you for you perspective and putting your experience out there for us!

After combing through a majority of the comments I’m amused, and impressed, at how civil you are in responding to all the negativity and unproductive dialogue. Appreciate the good content as I’m looking to get something more stout than my 150 3.5 with HD package. It’s a little sketchy pulling a 30’ Cougar Half-ton trailer. Just because it says half-ton doesn’t mean it’s safe. Hello from the Rocky Mountains.

I have a 2020 F250 4x4 crew cab with the 7.3 and couldn't be happier. I caught some flack from buddies for buying the gasser, but I have no complaints. A definite improvement from the F250 with the V-10 I had prior.

In regards to the truck stop fill ups…. After a cross country trip with my old 6.0, I found the truck stops to be .30-.50 cents per gallon MORE expensive than a normal fuel station off the highway. That adds up FAST

I have to congratulate Ford on this one. They've proven exactly how utterly stupid GM was for killing the 8.1 Vortec, and for not bringing it back.

As someone that worked at a truck stop and on commercial trucks, I would find having to use a truck stop to have more cons than pros. Our prices end up being higher than normal chains diesel, our drinks, food, and everything under the sun was way more expensive. Working there made me lean toward going gas engines than ever a diesel unless I became a heavy hauler. Just way to many inconveniences with diesel. Look at cotsco and sams cheap gas, cheap hot food. I’m glad the tech us improving.

In our area, diesel fuel costs more per gallon than gas which offsets the better mileage.
