Classic Reboot: U.S. Military Interest in the Paranormal with John Alexander

John Alexander, PhD, is a retired U.S. Army Colonel. He is author of The Warrior’s Edge, Future War, UFOs: Myths, Conspiracies, and Reality Denied: Firsthand Experiences with Things That Can't Happen – But Did. He has served as a consultant to the National Intelligence Council, the CIA, U.S. Special Operations Command, and the Army Science Board.

In this video from 2017, he describes a wide variety of personal encounters with the paranormal that he experienced during his 32 years of service in the United States Army. Many of his investigations were conducted with the support of the commanding general of the Army Intelligence and Security Command. The experiences recounted include UFOs, plant communication, psychotronics, psychokinetic metal-bending, poltergeists, battlefield intuition, dowsing, and remote viewing. He emphasizes that the ability to integrate such phenomena into the military is greatly dependent on the personalities involved.

What a great talk that was. 19:24 made me think of the smartest person I know, a national high tech guru. He is a truly nice person, by the way. With the utmost respect to all his smarts and accomplishments, I have witnessed that he can quickly and efficiently explain away anything that creates any cognitive dissonance whatsoever with his world view. That is, regardless of volumes of credible evidence. So the lesson is that no matter how smart you are, you can miss things, important things, if you're not consciously and intentionally open to them. Thank goodness for people like Colonel Alexander and General Stublebine (not sure if I spelled that right).

I struggle with the spoon bending phenomenon. The element Gallium melts around 30 degrees Celsius and CAN be used to make prop spoons for the purpose of illusion. I remain open to the existence of legitimate metal bending phenomena, and I truly WANT to believe. I have been attempting with a big heavy spoon of my own, so far without creating the bending phenomenon, however, I'm not giving up yet.
