I was considering my first saltwater tank. Thankfully I found this guy who 100% convinced me to stick to freshwater 😅 talk about giving an aspirin a headache lol. Ever ideal I had just faded & said nah.. that sounds like a second job.

Not a very budget friendly build. More for the beginner who has $2500 with this live stock included. Would love to see a nice looking $500.00 tank (including a few corals). Is that even possible these days without it looking like something picked up at a yard sale? Regardless, it's a nice looking tank, and great video. Good job Matthew.

I am 6 months in with the Red Sea Max Peninsula. Wave maker Nero 3 works very well and installed on rear sump. Very minimal footprint. Fish 2 clown, 2 Atlantic Bass and 1 Neon Goby. Lightning 19k 70% blue and 20% white. 5 torches, 3 hammer, Trachy, Acan, 5 Chalices, 2 soft, 2 sps w/birds nest. The system works as advertised but definitely stay on top of your water parameters. Good clean up crew and copepods recommend. ATO if you can upgrade. The cabinet is good and functional w/installed multiple 9” shelves, LED lighting strip w/controller ect…
Note: I had some failures figuring out a good peaceful habitat fish combination. I run without a top cover but not advised.
Always enjoy the videos.

Love all the information in this video. I’m starting up a Red Sea Max e170 for my first tank so the similarity to the nano was helpful.

A nice build with quality products and some nice easy to care for corals. Great editing job on this video Matthew. I know it was a lot of work.

I’ve pretty much learned everything from you and the rest of the BRS team. Keep up the awesome videos! One video I haven’t seen anywhere is how to actually add chaeto algae to a refugium? I’ve made 2 attempts in mine and both times my chaeto has just died… any tips or know if a good video? Like do you need to acclimate it? Ideal water parameters? Add with light or no light for a while?

1 million % agree with balanced lighting. Excessive blue tanks just turn me off and feel like they wash out some colors.

Great video, informative. I’m new and wanting to get a tank and I’m looking at Red Sea e170 or im Nuvo 40. Both seem to be similar

Hey thanks your videos have been so helpful ! 👍🏼 Appreciate all the info. In the close future can you make a video (or direct me to one) that focuses on the protein skimmer .. specifically this redsea max nano skimmer. Since your focusing on it being a beginner friendly system I have tried to dial it down myself but have had a hard time on really knowing what it's supposed to look like. For example to much foam not enough... or the water level being to high to low exc. Hopefully its in your plan to focus on this for us novices🥴 Once again appreciate all the info ... ⚓️

The tank is perfect for someone starting out on their reef journey and if you are experienced then kicking off with cycled biomedia is also perfect. I am not convinced someone starting out can replicate this set up and if they put in both fish and corals from day 1 without the experience, cycled bio media etc etc then it could have a speedy ending. Enjoyed the video and get where you are coming from but what happened to being patient, taking your time and adding livestock slowly. Should come with a health warning as perfect tank for beginner but not how to set up a tank for the first time

Good job 👍
My perfect beginner tank would be a pair of clowns and a few long polyp softies
After a year or so once matured drop in a beautiful bubble tip anemome and add a decent light
