The Autonomic Nervous System: Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Divisions

We've learned quite a bit about the peripheral nervous system, which has a sensory division and a motor division. The latter is the one that tells the body what to do, and this is divided into the somatic nervous system, which involves voluntary motion, and the autonomic nervous system, which involves all the things our bodies do that we don't consciously control, like the heartbeat, and digestion. This system is divided into a sympathetic division and a parasympathetic division, so let's learn more about what these do!

I love you bro. You saved my life for orgo in undergrad, now you're saving my life in dental school. I needed someone to just organize everything like the way you did in that chart. Now it all makes sense. Thank you bro!

This video, especially with the ending review, is the best I have seen on public use. I am a therapist and believe clients can own their thinking, feeling and behavior the more they understand how their body works. Knowledge of the human nervous system is a remarkable help in this regard.

Currently in PA school and they dive right into the minutia, and I miss the big picture. Literally thank you for organizing everything this way so now I can go back to making sense of the sympathetic innervations and pathways in the thoracic cavity.

I have general anxiety disorder and this reminded me of when my therapist explained how fast is the signal transmitted and the body reacts whenever you touch something hot for example, therefore I need to very quickly apply an exercise of reverse counting whenever I get irrational thoughts.
