I have the 8000k in my corolla with reflectors and I've never been pulled over or flashed. It really all just depends how you use them.

6k is legal everything else past that isnt. I have 6K on my bmw E46. Even if you do the conversion the 6K has best light output and is the highest legal K

I don't see why anyone would want to go any higher than 8k. At a certain point the hid is so blue or purple that it's OBVIOUS that it's just some after market add-on. Why not just have that crystal light-blue and give an elegant factory luxury look.

Aftermarket HID'S aren't illegal. The light output they produce is IF they are put in a car with that has reflector housings. Which most cars do. You can buy projector headlight housings for about any car and then fit HID'S in those and it's fine. The projectors have a sharper cut off, preventing glare. However your headlights shouldn't be colored outside of white, amber or yellow. A Lil blue is OK but only a lil!!

google your states headlight law!
here in california it is LEGAL to have ANY
headlight only if they are a white or orange color.

but so many cars have hid's over here cops dont
mess with people.

The "K" stands for Kelvin. Its a measurement of bulb temperature, not color. The lower the temp, the more yellow it looks (3200k) for example. The higher the temp, the more blue/purple it looks (8k-12k) for example. Hope thats wat u meant..
P.S. the higher u go, doesnt mean brighter. The brightest is as u said 4200-4500k range, (typically 4300k.) Not trying to be cocky, just want to inform new car owners. I currently have 10k in my car, and while it looks cool, not nearly as bright as my 6k i haf in a few months ago

Hey this question is open to anybody who may have a possible resolutions. I bought 35 W 8000k
H ID lights for my Honda accord 2004. And it seems that the side with the battery the drivers, is a lot brighter and wider then the right side. Any reasons why this may be I'm thinking because of cheap aftermarket bulbs and or ballasts?

Whether you get pulled over for it or not is different than being illegal. Aftermarket lights are all ILLEGAL to use unless you are off-road.

all hids are legal as long as they dont strobe or flash..and the numbers are based of the temp of the hid
