I have stage 4 breast cancer, and I am an accountant that goes to work everyday. It's important to somebody fighting this disease to have purpose and not feel like they do not exist anymore. I by no means have been written off by my employer or family and friends, but I do feel like I've been written off by 2 of my non-cancer related doctors. Kind of stings. I wish the best for her, and hope that she continues to be in remission.

Finally someone talking about stage 4 breast cancer! We need so much more education about metastatic breast cancer and how it differs from earlier stage cancer. Its good to see Shannen sharing her story, but we need to remember that each person with MBC has a unique experience. Praying for all people diagnosed with this very tough disease.

Shannon I was a nurse for 25 yrs. Loved your personal work for yrs and have seen most of it. I don't know about the really new treatments. But I can tell you women with breast cancer survive and live to be 98 and go on from there. They lived in the late 50s the middle 60s and continue on. With mastectomy if necessary still live to be 98 and living life to the fullest. It is literally all in seeing yourself living everyday to the fullest. If you can clearly see yourself doing it you can. You are in my prayers.
