Arcteryx Alpha FL & Patagonia M10; my top 2 picks for Hardshells.

When it comes to general outdoor use such as backpacking, camping, climbing, skiing and snowboarding I believe that the Arcteryx Alpha FL and the Patagonia M10 Jackets are simply the best out on the market today. While most shells are $600 and up and weigh over 1 lb these two jackets cost $400 or less, and weigh in at 12 oz and even 8 oz respectively. Both come with lifetime warranties and the Patagonia M10 can even be returned to any Patagonia store if you're lucky enough to have one in your area.

Steve, sorry for the late response. I'm 5'8" weight is 200 lbs chest size is 44 and reach is 72 inches so definitely appreciate the longer sleeves.

Thanks for the great review! I just ordered the alpha, what is your height and weight? Chest size?

If you’re planing to go skiing or snowboarding you’re going to be disappointed in either shell, you’ll really miss a powder skirt. I can’t speak to the Arc Teryx Gore Tex but but the Patagooch H2 No is not great for high aerobic activities. Just my 2 cents and experience.
