As a Polynesian, I don't see the logic in lumping Polynesians with other groups who happen to live on islands in the Pacific, let alone lumping us with the entirety of Asia. How are the physical and cultural similarities between the people of Polynesia and those of Daghastan alike? They're not. It's a ridiculous grouping.

Can we get a short-guy appreciation month?

It's like saying a Russian is a German, an Irish person is same as a French, a Belgian the same as a Slovak. AAPI categories are ridiculous.

Thank you saagar! They basically took the check boxes on any basic job application and made it a month.

I have personally worked for 2 companies wherein the husband put the wife's name on the business even though she wasn't involved in the day to day operations in order to claim 'women owned business' perks from the government. This is what you get when you put these kind of rules in place. Whatever the goal, motivated people manipulate the system to get themselves what they want.

This false grouping has bothered me for years. My wife is Vietnamese, her dad spent like 5 years in a literal reeducation camp after the north won the war before moving to the US to be a school janitor. The lumping in of all Asian groups into one category, as if they all have the same lived experience is ridiculous. It’s especially ridiculous that it’s happening for college admissions. You know for a fact some white college admissions officer is just looking at people of any East Asian ethnicity and treating them as if they are all Korean or Chinese and saying “nope, we already have too many ‘Asian students’ in our class.” Just treat people as individuals

You know it's just lip service when employers, schools, and business refuse to recognize Lunar New Year as a valid holiday.

Poor Krystal, sitting there thinking "Sagaar doesn't appreciate my affirmative action efforts, maybe I'll just replace him with Kyle after all"

As Saagar stated, as an AAPI male, my race makes it harder for me (and my descendants) to get into a good college and/or get a good job. But, at least I have AAPI month !😂

So happy sagar talked about this. I’m half Japanese and this forced cultural movement really highlights cultural divides within this country as well as within asian Americans

There's going to a Jewish Month too. A whole month is toooo much. How about a week? And you're right about "Americans" first. This is how we get divided. We're all Americans.

One of Saagar's best rants! I'm not Asian, but I have lived in Asia for over two decades, and yes, the differences between the countries make the AAPI classification absurd.

Most of Russia is in Asia, but none of them are typically included in this category.

When asked about AAPI, Biden said it's good cheap insurance and our senior citizens deserve good coverage.

I'm a left-hander and I want my own month too.

AAPI month is hard to take seriously if it doesn't have a flag. All the best months have flags. Also, May is Zombie Awareness Month, so I know what flag I'm flying.

As an Eastern Slav, I was always puzzled by term white. The hell I have more in common with Askenazi Jew or Anglo in comparison to an Arab?
