So you said you don’t need the switchbot app. Does HA handle firmware updates on Bluetooth devices or would I have to use the switchbot app for firmware update? Also subscribed👍🏻

Thanks for posting this - I migrated HA from my RPI4 to ProxMox HAOS vm and could not get the onboard BT adapter on my nuc working - this dongle had me back up and running in less than 5 mins (when it arrived)

HA for me didn’t detect the bot. Bluetooth adapter was there, but nothing ever popped up, apart from an error message saying active scanning is required… after much troubleshooting, I got it to work… you just need to unstick “passive scanning” on the Bluetooth integration config. By default this is ticked, and I’m guessing it disables active scanning. After that, it was super easy to setup… hours of troubleshooting to get to that stage though. Thanks for the vid, it showed me how it’s MEANT to work.

Love it. Simple, easy to follow - however - as someone who has a bunch of Elgato Eve Energy adaptors which are all Bluetooth I would love someone to show me how to connect them is a similarly simple way 🤣

perfect! and I don't need the stupid hub, which is even better!

Thanks for the video! I would rather rename the device than the entities - and then tell HA to auto-rename all contained entities. Cleaner

Thanks for the nice video. Is your USB extension cable usb 2 or usb 3 and do you have it plunged into a usb 2 or usb 3 port? Thanks

I was looking forward to add Bluetooth lights into HA, the lights are being discovered by HA but unfortunately the led BLE integration failed to connect the device every time I try to add the lights .
Have you tried lights yet ?

what dongle did you use, and what range are you seeing? I didn’t realise the HA integration was local only - it ignores the hub and the built in pi4 bluetooth doesn’t have enough range.

So hci0 is builtin in RPI4, so why can't we use that?

what about the switchbot blind controls

Thx. But what i don't understand is the conclusion, saying you wa't to connect a switchbot hub while you just connected the switchbot devices without needing the said hub.

Hey mate, new to HA. I use an ASUS TUF Gaming B560M motherboard with wifi/bluetooth antenna, but I cannot get the Bluetooth integration to recognize it. Is there any way to use integrated motherboard Bluetooth instead of an external dongle?
