Pikmin 1's secret Pikmin type?

Ok I know it's not exactly a secret, in fact you're very likely to encounter them on your first playthrough, lol

On my first play through of Pikmin 1 all my Pikmin were carrying a part of the ship so I used only olimars punches to beat the puffshroom so therefore I never knew this type existed.

Did you know that if you whistle the pikmin on the same frame they get hit by the spores, you can command the puffmin, but you cant throw them

There is a glitch that lets you control Mushroom Pikmin, not much use for it and if a controlled Mushroom Pikmin comes into contact with a normal Pikmin they will fight.

My Mom, sister, and I played Pikmin together when it first came out. We called the Puffstool Pikmin, Pokmin (after the "Pok" sound they made), Puffmin, and Purple Pikmin. Good times

I remember the myth about purple Pikmin. You grab a yellow with a bomb and throw it in water then save it. Took me so many tries before I realized it was fake cause I saw it on a legit site, game winners, back in the day.

I didnt see the puffmin because i literally punched the puffstool to death while my pikmin were doing stuff

If you kill the Puffstool with Puffmin around ot they will start to carry it back to your base, AS PUFFMIN. They will carry the Puffstools body along with your regular Pikmin

So, although it’s off-topic, my sibling and I had found a sort of glitch relating to these pikmin! There is a certain small span of time, likely under a second, that if you call them while they’re being infected by spores, they will return to you as the spore pikmin, and be docile and usable as a member of your team.
So long as memory doesn’t fail, while holding these pikmin to throw the icon in the bottom right showed a grey pikmin used when Olimar has no pikmin. These mushroom pikmin couldn’t be put into an onion, and would circle around the front of Olimar’s ship during the end of day cutscene. They ultimately passed away by being left, but I don’t think the brief cutscene you’d usually see after missing Pikmin would appear? I was only 10 or so at the time, so some information might be inaccurate, but I remembered thinking the mushroom pikmin were very cute and would try this glitch any time I saw a puffshroom…

I like how the first 2 games have a somewhat secret type of Pikmin you can find, not sure about the others

Just recently finished Pikmin 1 and didn’t even know that the Puffshroom could do that haha. Pretty cool though

There is a glitch that if you call them as they get get hit with the spore spray that will turn them into mushroom ones and still listen to you. It’s kind of cool having them sadly until you beat the puffshroom you can’t throw them or do anything with them but they won’t attack you if you call them back in time so it’s kind of cool to have them with you non aggressive. I was hoping in 2-3 they bring this concept back because a monster that can take over your pikmin is a interesting concept and would make it a bit hard if you had to fight a monster that you needed certain colors for.
