I have a cockatiel and she’s become my best friend. She bonded with me instantly, she loves to be pet and will sit with me for hours. She somehow knows when I’m sad and is there for me and she’s just the perfect lil birb

I absolutely love my little peach face lovebird. I think that they are truly underrated. Selecting the right bird is quite the challenge, after lots of research i finally decided on a Quaker as my second bird. I will be picking him up soon. Very excited!

Green Winged Macaws and Mealy Amazons are known as gentle giants as well, but Amazons go through a very nippy bluffing period and Macaws have larger beaks. You can’t guarantee that your bird will never bite you. No matter how much they love you you could catch them on a bad day or they could bite you when spooked. A macaw bite could definitely send you to the ER whether it’s a gentle giant or not.

I got a yellow sided green cheek about 7 months ago. I love him! I take him with me whenever I can . He has his own little fan club at the nursing home my Mom is in. He starts hopping up and down as soon as we hit the driveway . As for talking, at home he never stops, but if he is out of the house he refuses to utter a word. He's 1 year old now and has about twenty words in his vocabulary .The first word he said was "okay", Then one day when I got home from work I said "Hi buddy, horw are you and he said "Okay, I want Nutraberry." clear as a bell. You could have knocked me over with a feather! Mostly he just yells "I'm a pretty bird " at the top of his lungs !

I have a sun conure and she is the loudest bird I've ever heard. I grew up with an angry old Amazon that was in our family over 90 years. The Amazon was loud but nothing compared to a sun conure. The sun conures also tend to be jealous too. My bird screams extra loud anytime my daughter is in the room, bc she wants my full attention! This was a great and informative video. Just wanted to add my personal experience with a Sun Conure so anyone considering one will know certain types of those birds are a bit louder and more aggressive than others. I love my bird and will never re-home her, but many who buy sun conures don't realize how loud their little butts can be and they end up re-homed pretty quickly (which is no fun for a poor Lil bird). Thank you for the videos! Blessings 🖤

Thank you for including the Pionus! When I was looking into getting a Pionus, I only found a few videos on them. After adopting my White Caped Pionus, they are definitely the species for me! My husband wants a second parrot so we are looking at the Bronze Wing or the Maximilian Pionus. I think the only other species I would look at outside of a Pionus would be a Caped Parrot because I love independence and personality!

Awesome video! For starters, love how you give a lot of love to the budgies/parakeets/cockatiels. I've seen so many videos where people do not give the respect these little guys deserve. Just cause they're small doesn't mean they don't need lots of attention and love, and also time.outside their cage.

I also love how you mention so many birds I've never really heard of, especially the pionus and Bourke parakeet. They're beautiful! And now I'm gonna keep an eye out for one when I get my first bird! Thank you so much!

My first bird was a Blue and Gold Mccaw named Grover. My Gradma was living with us and bought him from a local pet shop, and then passed away about 6 month later and we were stuck with him. Grover is an absolutely wonderful bird and we will love him forever. He is about 10 years old now and we got him at 6 months ish. Since they can live between 50 to 100 years, he might just out live 2 or 3 generations of my family though.

Pros: super friendly, never stops talking, says the funiest things with the funniest inflection and the funiest timings, mimics every animal sound on the TV perfectly, lifespan comparible to a human....
Con: Screeches like a pteradactyl, there are peanut shells in every corner of the house, scream for attention if he knows someone is awake and not in the room with him, a perpetual 2yo in the house for the rest of our lives, lifespan comparible to a human, screeches all through the phone call so I can't hear anything....

Quotes:
Grover-"Grover want something..." Mom-"That wasn't very specific. What does Grover want?" Grover-"Grover want a peanut."
The Roof Repair Guy-"Do you have a pteradactyl in there or something?"
Two month leading up to Holloween: Grover-"....peanut?"
On Holloween: all the kids- "Trick-or treat" Grover-"...(silence)"
Day after Holloween- Grover-

Now I am living on my own and just got a Parakeet that absolutely hates me. I miss my Blue and Gold BFF.

I have a lovebird and he’s the sweetest and the most loving thing you can imagine. Very very affectionate and cuddly - they’re basically babies with tiny wings. They can be territorial but all birds have very different personalities and not all lovebirds are aggressive or feisty whatsoever - it’s REALLY just a matter of how much attention you give them and how much effort you put into bonding with them. They’re one of the most loyal parrot species and they bond quickly with their human parent and definitely bond for life :) also make excellent family pets - my family loves him to pieces and so do I - couldn’t recommend them more. He’s always watching me and knows the second I leave the room and will start calling me - cutest little birds with big personalities :)

Blue and gold macaws are generally mellow and sweet. I had one, but because she hated my first husband, I gave her back to the lady I was buying her from.
Looking back, I should have kept the bird and given him back to his parents.

I love your recommendations Victoria! Like you've stated not everyone beginner has to get a finch or a budgie. Everyone has different maturity levels and capabilities and some beginners may be ready for a Meyers or caique. Good range for everyone to consider great video victoria! Have a good week to.

One more thing, Hyacinth Macaws are truly beautiful and I handled one in a bird store in San Diego. Loved it to pieces. Im 5'9" and was very thin back then so my wrists were small. Theyre really too big for your shoulder. the one i handled was very gentle, but didnt want to let me go. Im an experienced parrot handler but really wasnt prepared for the size and stubbornness of this hyacinth. I would get him back on his perch and before i could blink, his beak was around my wrist, completely. Step up on my left hand, then lets go of my wrist. This went on for several minutes. I was pretty embarrassed and im not comfortable disciplining a 5k bird thats not mine, if its even possible. I had to call for help because i needed to go. Just the size of them is impressive.

Hi, thanks for recommending my Bourke playlist! Great video! You forgot the awesome Linnie!
I may be doing a similar video in the future.
I hope this video helps potential bird owners to choose the right bird for them.
