Three Minute Thursday: SOLIDWORKS Intersect: Calculate the Fill Volume with Just One Feature

If you need to calculate the internal volume of your design, there’s just one feature you need to know – intersect. Using the existing part geometry and a plane that represents the level of fill, the intersect tool takes care of the rest by calculating the intersecting regions and adding a body that represents the internal volume in one shot.

Note: this option is new in SOLIDWORKS 2016, previous versions required additional selections and additional steps to copy bodies or configure features.
