5 things you need to tighten on your Harley Davidson motorcycle! I see the same things loose all the time. I find loose bolts on Sportsters. Softail models seem to always have the same stuff loose. Those touring models seems to always want to have a shift lever fall right off. Even our beloved (RIP) Dyna model needs some extra love! I'll give you some info on every harley model in this video! Thanks for watching.

The fact that the dealership is cool with you making this content is awesome. Harley tends to be less than approving of the Indy/diy side of the industry but channels like yours are awesome. Thanks John.

Even tho I finally got my hands on a harley after 40 years and 250k+ miles of grinding rice I find that the video editing is as compelling as the wrenching tutelage. You're an artist!

Good video....Over the years (roughly 45) of riding I had a simple approach to loose bolts/nut. #1 Remove bolt. #2 Clean both threads, not just with a rag but with a solvent like brake clean. #3 Apply Loctite. #4 Torque to proper spec if known. I have found that if you do this every time eventually nothing comes loose.

Great tip about checking the battery terminal bolts every 5k miles. My bike went totally dead on me in the middle of nowhere 4 years ago. Luckily, another Harley rider who had the same experience stopped. Sure enough, the negative terminal bolt was loose. I tightened it up and was on my way. Now I check em, and put blue threadlocker on the bolts if they come loose.

Thumbs up on the battery terminal tightening !!! I almost got caught on a road trip when my bike wouldn't start. Jumped it but when I turned it off it would not start again until I jumped it again. Thought I needed and new battery. After some trouble shooting I finally went to the simplest cause and found my terminals were loose. Now every month I recheck/tighten the terminals.

I just had the negative battery terminal bolt fall out on my softail 2 days ago. Drove me nuts figuring out what the problem was. I got this video as a suggestion just now and I'm laughing my butt off when you got to the part about battery terminals. Definitely going to go check my spokes, you sir have earned another subscriber. Great video and I like your laid back/chill attitude, cheers!

Hey John. Just wanted to stop by and say thanks. Your tip on the battery terminals just helped me. Had the battery out on a tender over the winter. I didn't tighten down the positive terminal enough and she loosened up on me. Intermittent contact, so the engine would die for less than a second, then come back. All based on vibrations from specific RPMs. Was driving me crazy and I thought I had a major issue. Thanks, man. All your videos have been a huge help and very entertaining, too.

I had an ironhead sportster. I took it down to the frame, cleaned everything put it back together with loctite. Never had anything loosen up in 15 years. Great video.

When I had my 71 Superglide, it was an annual rite of passage to go over the entire bike and tighten everything as well as giving her a spring oil change.

I don’t even own a Harley, but I enjoy your laidback style and the informative and straightforward conversational flow of your vids. I like seeing how you “imperial” guys do it ;) ride hard, but ride home! Love from Australia

I've been riding a softail custom for 13 years, spoked-tired bikes for much longer, and never thought of 'truing' the wheel/spokes. I also ride a TREK road bicycle and truing the wheels is done a couple of times a year. Thanks for this info.

Thanks Man. I bought a used Sportster, my first Harley. The motor mount bolts were loose.
