A US naval official has said Washington may fail to provide Australia with nuclear-powered submarines within the specified time. The US official has highlighted overstressed nuclear shipyards and labour constraints that may push the delivery beyond 2030. As per the 2021 AUKUS agreement, the US and the UK had promised to equip Australia with nuclear-powered submarines. However, the latest comments have raised doubts over America’s ability to deliver the nuclear subs intended to counter China.

Aussie sailors are currently training on UK nuclear submarines and I am sure we will give them some of ours when they get older. It’s not perfect, but it would allow Aussie shipyards to get used to maintaining nuclear submarines. Australia has fought with us for over 150 years and we owe them a debt of blood that may never be repaid. As a Brit I think we should dig deep and help Australia out

The Fastest way is to buy the first few Virginia class SSNs 2-3 ones directly from US/UK meanwhile making an ecosystem for supporting them and also making a new production and maintenance centre in So the most logical choice is to buy them in batches of two, where the First batch is made entirely in US/UK and the larger batch is made in Australia, along with maintenance and other subsystems....

Who said Australia is getting US Subs.. Looks like Australia is getting UK Astutes and Australian Navy personnel are now being trained on the UK subs.
Defence Minister of Australia was just in UK at the newest Astute sub launch.
Astute were always going to be the best one for Australia as uses smaller crews.

I thought they was to be built in Australia except the reactor? How can the US not deliver submarines on time if they not the ones building them.

Britain is only building a fleet of 7 Astutes, with 5 already launched, so the capacity seems to be there to start building for Australia if Australia will take foreign built subs, at least initially. The UK is also replacing it's boomers, so may transfer it's labour force onto the new class meaning, like the US, not having spare capacity to meet Australia's needs. There's always China, Russia and India who build nuclear submarines and may have spare capacity :)

So it won't be delivered in 2045 the stipulated time as well 😁😂👏

Oz should start making their own nuclear subs now, with as much US and UK help as you can squeeze out of them.

Easy solution, detach a few from the fleet to Australia similar to what they will be receiving, sort of training on the job, while Aussie sailors are being schooled in the US at USN facilities now....IMHO

American military industrial complexes need time regenerate, skilled technicians and labor with proper clearance are in huge demands. There is a massive defense spending boom that the world haven’t seen since 80s. Everyone is hiring in the US.

If america cannot produce new submarines to deliver to Australia then give them the b 2 bombers jet fighter that carry a missiles that can sink an enemy ships or aircraft carrier from a distance of 1000 kilometers and cannot intercept or detect by a radar.

Why don’t the Americans just give Australia a Ohio class ballistic sub complete with 24 Trident 🔱 2 and 339 475kiloton warheads! That will shut China up and leave Australia alone!

Just teething problems. Australia only wants US tech and it will build them regardless they just want them faster than they can do it!

Should have stuck with the French subs. Don't need nuclear subs at all.
