A 19-year-old was killed after multiple blasts sparked by a fire at a business in a Detroit suburb on March 4 sent debris flying into multiple directions, local media reported.
Citing fire officials, the Detroit Free Press said Tuesday that “butane and nitrous oxide, lighter fluid, vape pens, and canisters measuring 12 to 18 inches and weighing 10 to 15 pounds exploded during a blaze at Goo Smoke Shop.” A warehouse facility called Select Distributors was also at the same address, the outlet reported.
The victim was a quarter-mile away from the fire when they were struck and killed by a canister that flew from the site.
According to the Clinton Township Police Department, police and fire crews were alerted to the fire at 8:50 pm Monday and "observed exploding materials flying in all directions.”
