Niger coup leaders close airspace and prepare for an attack

The leaders of a coup in Niger have closed the country’s airspace saying they have information a foreign power is preparing an attack.

A 15-country block of West African nations had agreed to take military action if the coup was not reversed by Sunday.

A representative of the Junta said, “any attempt to violate national airspace will be met with an energetic and instantaneous response”.
