Akai MPC Series Sequencer – One Of The Greatest MIDI Sequencers

preview_player
Показать описание
The Akai MPC Series Sequencer is one of the greatest sequencers we have for a reason. In this video we’ll go over the general benefits of the MPC’s sequencer along with it’s functions that put it ahead of it’s peers in the sequencer, sampling, drum machine market. Even though there are standalone and modular hardware sequencers on the market that outperform the MPC, it still has the major beats covered that you’ll need for your music.

I found my mpc 3000 le in a pawnshop a few years and never look back. The timing, midi & note repeat is rolled super tight like a philly blunt.

I use my MPC sequencer like crazy. I have all my MIDI stuff connected with a DMC MX-8 patch bay and that allows me to layer drums, bass, percussion, synths, pianos etc in multiple parts all sequenced on the MPC. Then I can sync Reaper to the MPC and record acoustic and electric guitars or whatever. Awesome tool!

I remember I met a producer and he didn’t have any sounds in his MPC2xl. He had a Triton 61 keyboard, a Proteus 2000, and a guitar, and his tracks were fire. He only use the MPC for sequencing and it caught me off guard. He was nice with it!!!!

I have a MPC2000XL.
Mainly I do the typical sample-stuff together with my SP404.
But once I connected it to my Korg M1 to trigger some sounds with the pads and used the MPC's (often overlooked!) step-sequence -editing-Mode.
Powerful feature.
Soon I wanna try to connect more synthesizers and samplers for some proper Midi- sequencing.
My Idea is to develope some musical sketches and finish them in a DAW.
What really sucks is the project management.
On the other hand that makes you want to finish your stuff quicker.

The MPC is imo hands down the best and most intuitive sequencer for laying down loop based ideas quickly. Wether sequencing it’s builtin sampler or some outboard gear, a MPC is hard to beat when it comes down to workflow. Don’t forget it’s legendary quantizing with it’s swing settings that also helped to make the MPC a household name. The layout of the transport buttons, the way you play the pads in realtime to program your patterns....the concept of the MPC is just flawless.

it's true... even when you look at the 60, the fact that it was designed in the early to mid 80's (and eventually built and sold) look how much of that is still worthwhile... not too many pieces of hardware hold up that well. Not even just the sequencer, but the menu layout.. the workflow stuff.. they picked the right disk drive type that time instead of some dumb format that never took off. I still use the 60 today from time to time... it still works great.

Hey loved the video! Do you happen to have any videos describing this sequencing or breaking down how to really harness the power of it?

Cmon daydream a Roland mv8800 just as tight...Roland fantom just as tight. Great sequencing ... Now the asr 10 sequencer sucks! Even my Yamaha qy 70 was a great midi sequencer with pro sequencer features..I do agree the mpc(any standalone 60to the x)is a great midi sequencer (with the most midi outs too)but there's other alternatives that a great.. I've never owned a mpc but they was always around.. I like em. But IMO Roland has great sequencing.. nice and tight or loose however you play it in on input quantize... keep up the good work

New MPC's like MPC One, is not like that anymore. Pads can trigger notes twice in one hit, knobs crackle, lots of software bugs etc.
