If we go by technical terms, weebs (or weaboos) actually meant people who obsessed with Japanese *culture* and wish to become their citizens. It's actually meant as an insult.
Although the meaning has "shifted" into people who love anime and Japanese stuff, because I know the word origin, I can't bring myself to call myself that cause it felt like insulting myself...so I just call myself anime and manga lover. Why not otaku? Because I'm not that obsessed with manga and anime either..
Just a regular guy that occasionally watch anime and manga to make myself feel better

Most animes itself does the opposite. Note that animes being made in Japan, Otaku's fetishsize anime. While weebs only like and talk about anime, but not obsseszed where it plaques day to day life.

I don’t watch anime because it’s reminds me of the time my uncle got a job at an animation studio.

Literally 3 months in he tells me on how under paid he is, how many hours he work, & the total amount of yen he got from his job. He says that his boss tells him that he “can be replaced at any time”.

I know not all Japanese animation companies are that. But I do not wanna have chance to support a company that barely pays & barely cares about their workers.

I really hope the people who are working in a animation black company really get some help from outside. Because I’m surprised that most of worker haven’t killed them self.

I don't think the definition of weeb is carried out by how people think it is. I'm pretty sure you just need to be such an avid watcher that you can pretty much give lore about shows you never watched. Which is why I sexually identify as closest weeb. Not really, but idk why people think weeb is still offensive. It just seems very pre-2017 of them

well the thing is: anime is part of japanese culture.. its been apart of their culture since the early 1900s..

otakus respect the japanese culture and anime while weebs do indeed fetishize the whole thing
