The desert eagle is practical if you need to defend yourself against a robber who is hiding behind 4 refrigerators

The desert eagle saved my life once. I was hiking in Alaska when a grizzly came out of nowhere, my first shot went wide left and the cartridge failed to eject. The bear felt so bad that I’d spent so much money on a paperweight that he gave me directions to town and left me alone

We have a guy that comes into our shop all the time preaching the merits of concealed carry and why it's infinitely better to hide what you're carrying than show it off, only problem is is that he concealed carries a desert eagle and you can just see this huge number seven shape poking out of his sweatshirt at all times. He even called me out recently saying I need to conceal carry. I'm like, "Alan I carry every day." And I showed him my P365XL. He's like, "Oh damn I didn't even know!" And I'm like, "Yeah brother I thought that was the point!"

I remember reading a story about a guy who got a really good deal on a bunch of .50AE right before COVID hit, and then ammo prices shot through the roof so that .50 was all he really had on hand in bulk. He’d just bought a holster for the Desert Eagle, so he decided to go ahead and carry it until he could afford normal ammunition. According to him it took some getting used to but wasn’t as uncomfortable or unconcealable as expected.
