No 'Stache, No Sh*t Hot

Watch me come in for the overhead break as I almost fly a "Sh*t Hot" carrier break in a Navy C-2 Greyhound. Normally, a "Sh*t Hot" is something only F/A-18 Super Hornet pilots will sometimes do, and even then, only when they are a very competent "ball flyer." However, my copilot had done them a few times in the past and was very helpful in making sure I didn't mess up this practice attempt.

No Stache? Might as well having pitching deck with no paddles. 😢

The idea that they want to replace Greyhounds with Ospreys, for COD, is ludicrous.

No stache? After that break I expected the stache to instantly reappear! Well done...carry on!

Where are all the LSO’s on the platform? Are they looking for your Stache?

you've demonstrated competencies in the cockpit and got your wings of gold... doesn't matter what aircraft you fly ... you're flying an aircraft while others could only dream of it ...

hands down, the best commentary in the Navy - we will miss your carrier landings, and we wish you luck with Royal Aviation. Give us a shout out if you ever find yourself in Australia - i'll buy you a beer and take you for a fly in my 172

From an old COD driver with just over 1700 hours in the Thunder Pig, not bad. The COD doesn't look cool or sexy doing anything, even a shit hot break. But what you just did, damn good enough. I was a T-45A/C Goshawk IP as well, lead safe, and the C-2A was not an easy thing to land on the boat, even in easy CASE I conditions.

Lack of Stache would have come up in the FNAEB had he borked the attempted SH. Really courting disaster. Fly Navy

That was the best YouTube video ever. From an A320 and TBM 850 pilot.

Stick and rudder skills baby!!!
Always cool videos.
Having flown from a NAS as a member of another branch I can attest these guys plant the plane on the deck all the time.
No flaring. No smooth touchdowns. Just drive it on and see those gear struts compress.

Very nice little film and a well narrated one at that. Loved all the jockeying of the yoke on short final. That is hand flying an aircraft. You guys are awesome landing those aircraft on aircraft carriers. Thanks for posting and please keep them coming!

Hey there stranger. Welcome back. I never get tired of watching these catches. You make it look so smooth and easy but the look on your face tells a completely different story. Great job, Rob. So good to have you back, my friend.
