Did Ramesses II send his chariots to recapture the Israelites or kill them? Who was responsible for bringing slaves back to Egypt? And why does this matter for the exodus narrative?

And the Israelites knew this, which is why they were terrified and complained to Moses "is it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us out here to die?" - they saw the chariots coming and knew it wasn't to re-enslave them.

Further evidence of the intimate familiarity with Egypt possessed through experience, by Israel.

I am all but halfway through The Ark of the Covenant in Its Egyptian Context: An Illustrated Journey and it is a very good read. I did not expect to be captivated by a subject as narrow as ritual furniture of ancient Egypt, but figured that if I ever only read one book about that, it could just as well be this one and I am glad I made that decision. I just googled for synonyms for "great" but figured that action in itself could suffice.
Thank you for the  great reading experience!

There was a documentary on TV about Ramesses II and the facial reconstruction made of his face in  a forensic lab in Liverpool, where I hear some very skilled Egyptologists are educated. One can imagine someone knowing someone who over a dinner mentioned something that took off.

Thanks for your videos, I learn a lot from them.

I am currently trying to understand the nations of the Old Testament. Do you know any reliable maps that could help with that.

I wonder was there some Nubians on chariots also in the Egyptian army

A side note

The Relief of Gebel Sheikh Suleiman likely shows the victory of an early Pharaoh, possibly Djer, over A-Group Nubians circa 3000 BC, nearly dating back to the First Dynasty. 👀 Is interesting

what group of Nubians was at Avaris as it's known after banishing the Hyksos Egypt also conquered the Kingdom of Kerma in Upper Nubia and held both areas until 1070 BC.

Well that seems like a waste of a march for the infantry.
