The Nirvana version hits differently, just like all along the watchtower is Jimis.

Nirvana was great at covers. One of the best ever.

I will always prefer the Midge Ure version of the song. It’s just so ethereal and otherworldly.

This is a HUGE compliment, given Bowie used to write for other people in the beginning of his career...to which he hated how they interpreted it.

All great but Midge Ure’s version holds a special place in my heart

David inspired a lot of great musicians such as The Cure, Trent Reznor, Scott Weiland from STP, Radiohead, Deftones, and many more. I honestly love both versions of the song.

Love both but David's magical. He wasn't afraid of experimenting with the mix and, to me, it still stands out like no other, despite all the wonderful versions out there. Dang, I love this song.

Nirvana's redition not too far off from original....but the melacholic harmony between the cello and his guitar at the same time----Kurt's inner pains were speaking to us right there.❤

I love both versions, but the also forgot to mention the 3rd version of this song by Midge Ure. That one gives me chills in a good way 🤣

Nirvana's version was one of the reasons I started listening to Bowie. All these years later he's still my absolute favorite. Never got that into Nirvana but I respect them deeply.

I love each version equally, though I also love the rehearsal version of Nirvana’s. If you haven’t heard it yet I suggest it.

I really respect how non-elitist Bowie was to new music. Ik a lot of old musicians are. All throughout his career he respected so many newer acts, most famously his fascination with Nine Inch Nails. He also listened to Kendrick Lamar's 'To Pimp A Butterfly' on repeat when making Blackstar. He was just such a cool guy.

He loved it, same as me. The Nirvana version was the first one I've ever heard, so naturally I love it.
