Ryen & I are talking about our April 2022 budget numbers! Not only do we show where our dollars went, but we also discuss if we stuck to our budget limits.

In this video, I am sharing how I handled my property tax bill, and Ryen gives an update on how her budget has been changing.

What do you do with your budget after the month is over, and you’re ready to begin a new month? Most people don’t realize it, but your spending throughout the month gives you some incredibly helpful information.

One of the first steps to creating and sticking to a realistic budget is tracking your expenses. Your spending is the underlying foundation for creating a budget and ensuring that your budgets in the future are successful.

If you are not aware of where your money is going, you can’t make the best decisions for your dollars. Today, I am going to show you how to extract all of the vital information from your expense trackers using the "Where Did My Money Go?" Worksheets.

When I was younger there was a class in school Taking Care Of Business…..I was 15 or 16 years old and they taught us how to balance a checkbook, write checks, Balance a budget for living expenses and they taught sewing and to type…..We also learned about second hand stores to save money. I don’t know why young kids aren’t taught this stuff anymore.

“I remember when you were going to go camping that one time”…giggle giggle😂😂😂. Those two get each other so well.

Individually you two are fun to watch but together it is super entertaining due to the back and forth that are so genuine and not scripted.

Thank you for the video, great stuff 😁

I’ve been waiting for this ☺️☺️ just starting my financial journey at 22, about to finance a car, and variable income. As you said, these kinds of skills are something we need to put work in to get better at!

I always feel encouraged to continue and get better about closing out my budget when I watch these. Personally when I judge how much I saved I don't count my starting balance. I find it easier to judge the percentage that way because I consider my checking buffer as my "$0, " it is there so if I need it I'm not in trouble but I prefer it stays there.

Ryen, I'm sure you've already looked into this, but call Social security to get benefits for Raylynn (sorry about spelling). My brother got them after our mother died until he turned 18.

I got hit with a whopping income tax bill this year....it has drastically changed my debt repayment goals. But I rearranged things (as you do), asked for a repayment plan, and found a way to make those payments over the next 12 months. I won't be debt free as I had planned, but I can still pay my bills. Thanks for continuing to show us how it works. Thanks!

Kumiko, I do my budget versus actual because I’m new to zero based budgeting. I don’t have a true year over year. Tracking everything for me means I can be BEST prepared. I’m looking forward to closing my year out. Good, Bad and Indifferent, I will have direction. 😌

I recently got a raise at my job and I had to analyze my budget again and gave myself a spending category on a weekly basis. When I didn’t set a budget for dining out or other spending I would use my card, so I got realistic and gave myself an allowance to freely spend when needed. It makes a huge difference. Having physical money in my wallet definitely changes my perspective!

You are wonderful!! I found you last week and have ordered your bbp workbook even though it’s June! We have been working on our debt journey already and I’m excited because I know this is going to make our future better. I have tracked 3months spending when I found you, and had just received a “budgeting workbook” I had ordered, still unopened. I’ve already sent it back and am waiting for yours to arrive so I can get started! Thank you!

Thank you so much for the explanation on the fact that there are times we need to adjust our budget. I'm one of people that make a budget and try to make my life fit the budget. I feel much better now. Thx

i have adjusted my household and auto categories to reflect things like taxes, registration and insurance. My auto (not gas, that's a separate category) is $300 to cover once a year registration plus monthly insurance as well as things like car washes and repairs. Household is at $1000 because that was my average for last year including taxes and insurance as well as regular household goods. My pet category covers not only monthly food but yearly licensing and vet costs. Having said that, if I'm over in a category I just leave it as over. I've been over on gas a lot this year since the costs have gone up so much and I give my son a ride to work a lot.
