It's okay, just use your first finger to replace where your thumb would be.

I have the same problem... I tuned down E to D#... It's easier for me.

Just get the fender app for anyone struggling to tune those strings down

Instead of playing the e chord on the twelfth fret, you can just play a regular e chord.

To be honest, that ultimate guitar way of playing using bar chords is easier than, bringing the thumb and press on the string :/.
This sounds better, and this is the more difficult one.
