Great tip! I've been using these Anker power banks for years and several sitting unused in my drawer. I guess I found a new use for them with my Hero 8!

Why not use the neck strap with snap mount get rid of the chest mount, put the battery charger to a pocket ( shirt with zipped pocked ) there you got at least 200 gr lighter setup and no wobbling

Nice setup man.
I use a similar chest rig set up to film my dog tracking deer. There is a company called 3BR power sports that makes a housing with a water prof door/USB cable combination that works really well. Some of our deer recovery is done at night so i looked and looked for a light that is good for video and that will reach out further than the normal video lights that i could mount on my chest rig. The Nitecore HU60 is small 1300 lumen head lamp that is powered strictly from a USB power bank. I use a 20000mHh power bank with two USB charge ports that run both the Hero 8 and the light. I have the power bank in pouch that clips to my belt. The rig works really well.

this trick works with anything; I use it to keep my BT speaker going all day long and my GP all day long, been doing this for a few years already. My MP3 player doesnt need it as its awesome as it is :)

Enjoyed your video . . . thank you. I tuck my Anker battery pack under the elastic strap on the back of the chesty mount which works well for me. Thanks again.

I have seen tons of videos on this using a external power bank. I am surprised that you have not experienced heating issues w your camera leaving the batery in and bascially charging all the time. I have experimented with my GP7. It overheats leaving the battery in the camera and will shut down. When I take it out, no problems.
Thanks for the video.

Adhesive Velcro would be good on the back of you chesty and power band!

Here’s some food for thought, try using play-Doh clay and push it in and around the hole of the new door that you installed for the power cables. You can also stuff it around the usb jack of the battery, and here’s on more tips. You can daisy chain the batteries. You can run a usb cable from one battery to the other. . Instead of using zip-ties, try Velcro, or even better, to keep to heat away for your GoPros, zip-tie the battery/ batteries to your chest harness, one of each side so that the Weight is even on the harness. I know if would kick my OCD in big time. Lol. And as for the cables, you can cut some very small slices into the harness ( them use some heat to melt any stray threads and to make the size hardened ) that way the holes will not get any larger. This way you can run a longer cable from one battery to to next and then to the gopro. More batteries, more running time and less heat from the batteries, as the batteries charge the gopro, and now you will have less of a load on them as well

I tried this set up it was alright but not the best, some shots I had my hands / reel in the way of the shot… didn’t get a good shot while kneeling down releasing a fish …

Thanks a lot for this. Straight to the point and no BS.
I also have that snap mount, which I stick to the hood of my car. Do you think the ties would be strong enough to hold the charger if I've tied the charger to the mount itself?
