Inspired by Yamaha’s iconic “red label” guitars of the 1960s, new FG Red Label folk guitars blend modern inspiration with a timeless design. Featuring a classic semi-gloss finish and high-quality components, FG Red Label guitars capture an authentic vintage aesthetic. The mahogany back and sides are paired with a premium Sitka spruce top that’s treated with Yamaha’s Acoustic Resonance Enhancement process for genuine aged-wood tone and sustain. A new scalloped-bracing design delivers plenty of volume, while the groundbreaking Atmosfeel three-way pickup system provides a natural acoustic sound when amplified. Yamaha FG Red Label sound and feel like you’ve been playing them for years—right from the very first note.

The music for this video was composed and produced by Joshua Ray Gooch and Cory Churko. All of the guitar tracks are recorded with FG Red Label guitars.

I picked up a nwt fg820 sunburst for $125 with case tuner and strap off marketplace and it sounds and plays better than many guitars I’ve played that were 5x more expensive. I’ll be keeping it for life.

I just purchased my 3rd Yamaha. The FGX3. I’ve been a big fan of Yamaha acoustics and had been waiting to try one of these new red labels as they’re rare in these parts. I found the X3, played it and was hooked. It looks, feels and plays like a far more expensive guitar. I traded my Taylor for it the next day without hesitation. No regrets. This is a far superior instrument.
Also worth noting is my 50 year old FG-160 that sounds incredible and stacks up well to the FGX3. It’s supposed to be a cheap plywood guitar that’s not worth much but it sounds better than most every new and much more expensive guitar I’ve found on the walls of my local shops. Yamaha really knows how to build them.

A premium limited Red Label with the absolute top and best of everything, and the transacoutic system with an added delay transducer for about $2500 street or $1000 more would be my dream guitar.

Great to see that iconic name on a modern Yamaha acoustic! From what has been said in the video these new Red Label guitars look like a "must have" and I can't wait to get my hands on one!

Wish the would do a Red Label FG 300 again with this wood tech. That would be sweet.

There should be an Elliott Smith signature model. He played an FG180.

These sound great, and I typically am not a fan of mahogany back & sided guitars. Tried an FS model and it made me want to add it alongside my Yamaha LSTA-VT.

Hi, Can I seek your advice please? I just bought a Yamaha FG200 circa1973 (47 years old). The action at 12fret was over 5mm, I reduced it to 2.9mm. However truss rod is barely working. There is slight bow in the neck near the soundhole. Otherwise I am quite happy. I want to ask - As this guitar is old and neck is slightly bent, is it a good idea to loosen strings daily after playing to lessen the tension on the neck? Thank you for your advice. :)
