SpaProof - Add Borates to your Spa the Easy Way

In this video I show you how to add SpaProof to your above ground fiberglass spa. SpaProof is made by Nisus Corp. the same company that makes PoolProof. Both Spa Proof and Pool Proof have the same ingredients with the only difference being that they use a different bonding material in SpaProof formula.

What SpaProof Does:
Utilizes boron, a natural mineral
Balances the pH -- can absorb both acid or base
Makes the spa water more stable

SpaProof provides the following benefits:
Moisturizes the skin, making it feel smooth
Reduces the chlorine smell
Helps prevent red eyes, relieves eye irritation
Helps prevent dry skin
Extends chemical/sanitizer life
Makes water sparkle

These are actual proven results of adding Borates to your water. The SpaProof recommends a dosage of 50 ppm, but you can safely go higher. As you can see from the video measuring the exact amount of water in a spa can be off a bit. So I suggest going with a lower dose and testing the spa Borate levels. If it needs more to reach 50 ppm then add a little more.

It is actually a great investment since the SpaProof is actually relatively inexpensive and the benefits you get for having Botates in your spa have a huge upside.

To order SpaProof:

For more information on SpaProof:

MEASURING YOUR SPA:
The basic formula I used to measure the spa was length x width x the average depth of the spa.

So for this spa it was 6 ft. x 6 ft. = 36 sq ft of area.
Average Depth: 2 ft.+ 1 ft. = 3 ft. divided by 2 = 1.5 ft
So 36 sq ft. x 1.5 ft. = 54 sq ft

So i took the 54 sq ft and x by 7.48 which is how many gallons of water are in one sq ft.

54 sq ft. x 7.48 = 403 gallons of water. I think this spa was actually closer to 350 gallons. I think the seats rise and fall in this spa so the area is harder to measure accurately.

But you get the general idea.

SpaProof is the easy way to add Borates to your spa. The benefits of a Borate level of 50 ppm in your spa are; softer water, less eye irritation, no more dry skin, pH is stable, Bromine or Chlorine last longer and the water will sparkle.

I've added Borates to my spa on the last two fills. I just did this today and have a question about the Ph reading AFTER the borates are added.

My spa was up to temperature and just prior to adding Borates the TA was at 90, and Ph was at 7.5. After getting the Borate reading to 50, the Ph now tests higher than 8.0 (Taylor test kit). I also have a digital Ph tester (which tends to read about 0.15 higher than the Taylor). The digital indicates 8.35 after the adding the Borate.

On the previous fill, I added Borate at TA 80, and Ph 7.6 with similar Ph readings afterwards.

Question 1: Does the Borates cause a false high Ph reading?
Question 2: The first time I added Borates, the Ph stayed above 8 until after a couple days I added Ph decreaser. Should I have to add acid after Borates?

Thanks much for all your videos. I've learned a lot watching them.

Is it possible to just use Borax like I did my pool?
I want that feel of the water and the sparkle in my spa as well..
