I promised I would share it all, the good and the bad... This is definitely very, very bad and has caused me to go back and fix items that were supposedly permanent and never to be removed again.. I guess we prove that nothing is permanent in life and everything can be fixed...

With the temperature and humidity fluctuations that a van is exposed to I think the lesson learned here is don't use a particle board type material. I build my cabinets with 10 series 80/20 and temporary covered them with a corrugated plastic sheet. The final product I will use for covering will be a marine product called Starboard. Starboard is a Polymer product that comes in different thicknesses. I utilize a U nut and aluminum angle to attach it to the 80/20. I'm also experimenting with the very strong neodymium magnets which wouldn't require screws or bolts at all.

Just watching it, I felt frustrated. But great that you manage to fix the issues.

Im going for the more "industrial" aesthetic in my bus. AKA using screws to hold the faces to the 80/20 and making everything disassemble-able because I know Im going to make some mistake like this that will require me to take something apart.

If doing over again would you consider using a PVC paneling to eliminate all water concerns?

To avoid the laminate cracking, you could have covered the cut with tape. And a heat gun and/or acetone would have helped mightily with cleaning that glue off the aluminum 80/20. Helluva great recovery job. Glad to see you get it sorted. I'm wondering if gluing those panels down might not be a great idea on a mobile deployment. Time will tell! Thanks for sharing your process...

Way to go! Looks good, I never thought I have an air chisel would have saved a lot of time but you got the results. Good to be honest with your friends and save them making the same blooper. Luv ya!

I would reconsider using wood materials. They are a place for mold to grow and can capture oders. If you plan to scrap the walls in a few years you might be ok, but I would think deep about keeping them.

So glad you’re back. Felt so bad watching this. When you used that material I didn’t want to be that guy……. But particle board / composite boards are like sponges and wick any moisture. Hope you don’t use them again. Be well.

I feel your pain. I have a similar problem. My laminate cabinets are separating the layers. I haven't even decided how I am going to deal with this. I have a lot of other things to fix first. Someone stole my catalytic converter. So I am going to watch how you fix the moisture issue before I fix mine. Thanks.

I'm happy to see you are back in town. Shame to see your damage.

This must be why Embassy uses zero wood in their builds...

I can totally relate. Glad you're back at it. Took me a lot of restless nights to resolve my mistakes and I can't stop thinking about what I could have done differently.

I'm sure there's a lot of frustration we didn't see. You handled it like a champ and you're already over the worse part which is starting. These little details can cost so much time and money and am glad you're sharing them.

Hopefully, the audio situation gets sorted out soon.

Tracy loves your music selection.

Your like, subscribe and sign up for notifications pop-up was really slow. I'd get a faster visual :)

My only request is I wish you were able to get these very informative videos out. You did say back in December 2019 that this project will take 4, 5, 6 or 7 months.
