What I love about Batman in these films is that he feels like a classic gothic horror era monster but if one of them was a hero. He feels almost mythical in 89

I love how Burton/Keaton gave Batman such a gothic treatment with the acting, lighting, costume, cinematography and music. Batman is literally like a supernatural entity. Vampiric or even. It feels like a quasi horror film. Gangsters completely in fear of a “Giant BAT!”. I love the whole vibe it gives off. You didn’t get that from the other Batman portrayals.

I love that opening shot of Gotham City with the clouds and fog over the moon and just the gothic feel that Tim Burton gave Gotham City in this movie.

I remember watching this film on VHS when I was 3, 4 and 5 years old. I was so excited for Batman Returns to come out then. After 34 years, this still holds up as the best Live Action DC comic book film ever made.

Saw the movie on the big screen last night as part of a night marathon: The Flash, Batman and Batman Returns, was worth to sit there for over 6 hours just to watch the two classics on the big screen.
