I had chronic warts over my hands as a kid, like to the point it was painful and a constant bother. No matter how we tried to get rid of them, they came right back. Well, the HPV vaccine came out and she brought it up with the doctors she worked with at the hospital, and one of them happened to mention HPV can cause warts. She took me to get it and BAM. Within a year I was wart free. Crazy, crazy disease. Completely forgot I ever had them until I saw this tiktok lol

The edge on that beard is SHARP. Barber definitely deserves a raise👌. On the topic of HPV, that's why I don't go barefoot anywhere especially public pools and saunas. Great vid Doc 😊

My younger sister once called me in tears because she found out she had HPV, and she was convinced it was like finding out you had syphilis or cancer. After I calmed her down, I told her everyone has HPV. It's really not a big deal, and there are dozens and dozens of strains. Just get a more thorough pap from the doctor to make sure you don't need any further treatment. She ended up being fine. Seriously, nearly everyone has a strain of HPV at one point or another. If it comes up during an STD panel, get it further checked, and move on. It's similar to herpes. If you are sexually active and have had multiple partners, you likely have had that, too. To be human is to be covered in little red bumps. It's really not a big deal.

I know three YOUNG women who had it and developed cancer from it. The tumor was positive for HPV. Two of them had to have full hysterectomies. The third one had to have her cervix removed so now she can’t carry a child. They are all from different towns and don’t know each other. Those odds are scary enough that I DON’T WANT IT!

I work in OB/GYN. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had to tell women just because their pap is HPV positive doesn’t mean their partner cheated on them. We really need to up our health and sex Ed game in the U.S. We are totally doing the absolute least with the most in that area.

Im 30. I've been with my boyfriend for 12 years and we have 2 children.
I had cervical screenings for 6 years because I had HPV that wouldn't leave my body. I missed 2 years of screenings from my pregnancy and post-partum, so i think it's around 8 years in total. This year is the first time it's gone. It's nothing to be ashamed of..
I had no symptoms, it didn't cause me any problems and didn't cause cancer. I have also had the HPV vaccine in school around 15 years ago now, so i am protected from some strains but not all. I'm from the UK so the vaccinations might not be in every country but its worth knowing that men are carriers with no symptoms too. So it's not just for women 😊 most people don't know they have it unless they go for a cervical screening which picks it up.

Now all I can hear is Oprah saying “you get HPV and you get HPV and you get a strain of HPV…😂

Warts, cold sores, boils (can't remember the medical name, but they're like golf ball sized pimples)... Had them all. Various stains of herpes and hpv cause them. Never had any kind of S contact in my 28 year life...

I got some during swimming lessons in 2nd grade. It caused a single wart on bottom of my foot which was not big or painful so I ignored it for years. Suddenly around 10 years later it started growing and spawning smaller ones around it.. Had to freeze them all off.

Last year I was diagnosed with cancer caused by HPV 16. Fortunately, it was caught early and after 7 chemotherapy treatments and 33 radiation treatments, I am cancer free. It was in my throat and the recovery from the treatments has not been easy. If you have children, get them vaccinated. My cancer did not show up until I was 74 years old and the doctors can not tell when I contracted the virus.

My dad had HPV positive stage 4 cancer (orapharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma to be exact) and it took his life less than 2 years after diagnosis. HPV, while common and usually “harmless” absolutely ruined my life and turned our family’s world upside down. The people who make jokes about it infuriate me.

In college I did a presentation on HPV in my communications class. When I said that everyone is likely to get it the class screamed and me and for other med students had to calm them down. They had only heard of it being an STD and giving warts down there

Wear shower shoes high enough to keep your feet out of the water in public showers, such as gyms. When i was in the Army our platoon got plantar warts from the shower. I wore shower shoes and got one. One of my guys got 18. 18! He was on crutches and had to get them surgically removed. Also, shower shoes can prevent athletes foot and nail fungi. Stay safe out there!

The worst part about it, is that even protection isn't a surefire way to avoid it. There's an awful lot of skin not covered by condoms.
