How to use your central heating more efficiently

There are things you can do to use your central heating controls more efficiently.

There's no escaping the fact that in modern Britain if you want to be warm, its going to cost you a fortune. The sad thing is that like everything else, now that energy prices have risen, they aren't going to come down again because even if the wholesale price of gas and electricity drops, the full savings wont be passed onto consumers, they will be use to boost company profits. That's what happens when private companies take over public utilities.

I keep myself very cosy and rarely turn the heating on . How to I achieve this ? Have I invented a super efficient solar panel ? Nope . A windmill that generates energy when there's no wind ? Nope .

My methods are very simple and very low tech .... SO simple most people would probably never think of 'em .

1. Fleece balaclava.
2. Tee shirt . Two fleeces . Padded jacket . When it's super cold I hang a shoulder bag round my neck so that it rests on my chest and
bung a hot water bottle in it .... this goes under the padded jacket .
3. Fingerless gloves when necessary .
4 . Ankle socks . Knee length thermal socks on top .
5 . Trousers . Tracksuit bottoms on top . Long John's are an option , but I rarely need 'em .
6 . Block heat escape routes with cycle clips, a belt, a scarf .
7. When I'm sedentary I pull a blanket or duvet over myself.

When I go outdoors I usually need to take clothes OFF coz I'm walking or cycling .... generating lots of heat .

So wearing all these layers must be very uncomfortable and restrict movement . Nope, it's fine .
So this method isn't very high tech or sexy is it ? No its not .... but it works . If you don't want to do it, that's OK with me I'm warm and happy 😊 and thats all I need to worry about .
