This hits hard especially if you currently work at a gas station convenience store. If I was in that situation I most certainly would have called the cops no matter what the kid says!

He still should've called the cops. The kid might be telling that because those men might've threatened him or something. That could've saved the kid.

This guy was a straight coward. He should have called the cops when he started to get suspicious.Also he took the words of the kid too seriously, he should have acted as an adult and called the cops immediately after he escaped.

I would have straight up called the cops after the first incident. That kid was clearly in a bad situation. Always, always call the police if you ever see anything that makes you suspicious.

Okay this story actually pissed me off I’m not going to lie. I would have called the police and still explained the situation so they don’t do anything stupid. He had a chance to escape with the kid. I would have said come with me and ask questions later. Before I said come with me I would have scope out the scene to make sure we were both safe.

This story reminds me of that Batman episode where Clayface created a small girl to see if the coast was clear, disguised himself as the “girl’s” father, and Robin tried to help her

Teenagers are not adults so the clerk was too immature and not experienced in life yet to handle this horrid situation. Therefore, he should've mentioned this to an adult i.e. manager, parent, guardian, relative etc and then they would've called the cops and let that be that.

He could have called the cops immediately, i'm pretty sure that kid are just too terrified to imagine what would have happen if he called the cops, but is a better way so that he could save that kid life, those guys deserve a consequences for a reason. But now, he didn't do what he have to do and regret his life choices.
