The scariest part is that the AI production could be better than recent efforts. It's a pretty "low bar" to cross over.

It reminds me of the episode of Star Trek TOS, Cats paw, when the creatures made food and wine appear, but it had no flavor because all they know was what it looked like.

South Park nailed this years ago with the "A.W.E.S.O.M.E.O" episode when Cartman spends a whole day pitching movie ideas consisting of Rob Schneider, an animal, and some other scenario. And, who can forget the Manatees "writing" Family Guy. AI is just another stand in for manatees and some kid wearing a cardboard box... Life is stupider than fiction.

You'll know when something is generated by Skynet because it'll be watchable.

When they started calling it "content", I was done.
It really fits the nomenclature, these are barely a shadow of what used to be movies and shows. F off studios!

Collect good old movies (on dvd or blue Ray) while you can. The future of movies is bleak.

Bring it on. I love watching money burn.

"Ease of use... ubiquity of the technology..."

The same thing happened in the music production world when at-home Digital Audio Workstations became affordable to everyone.

Imagine coming home to a AI TV in 2030 and it asks what you’d like to watch, you say Back to the future 4 and the TV makes the movie for you 😮

I think the possibility of AI generated choose your own adventure content will become a thing. Where you will put on VR and tell the AI the premise and what kind of story you want to be the protagonist in and the AI will generate it and play off of your reactions/interactions... basically a Holodeck.

Hollywood is absolutely salivating.
Like you said, with zero actor fees, zero set locations, no hundreds of crew, lighting, effects etc, maybe a handful of prompt writers and concept designers, mixed with a few post production effects... a 300million dollar film could be done for less than 10

Studios will cut costs and therefor make huge money....but thats assuming that the demand for their IP still exists.

Its almost like Hollywood is a money laundering scheme that at one time released high quality art. ;)

You’re missing a key flaw in your own argument. If production costs are drastically lower and the content ever more plentiful, the individual profits will also be much lower. Not gargantuan.

Supply and demand always wins in the end.

We are already seeing a version of this future as broadcast and cable gave way to streaming and streaming gives way to the ultimate democratized version of content creation, YouTube.

It’s very likely that Hollywood soon resembles something closer to the music studios of today, or worse as an unending wave of content creators battle for an ever more fractured audience.

Always illuminating hearing your solid takes on entertainment offerings! More notions to ponder for sure! Thanks Dave. You should write a book compiling all your reviews and thoughts and they should make it required reading at film school!

The idea of AI taking over the entire creative process reminds me of that Carole&Tuesday episode about them hiring a robot to make a music video, and the robot ends up being a grifter.

I got an ad for an A.I. video generator at the end of this video.

PlutoTV has 24/7 dedicated to Star Trek TNG, DS9, Voyager, the Star Trek films, and Stargate SG-1. I'm content for quite a while.

I've been thinking lately about how I already have many times the "content" that my grandparents had, and they got along just fine. The worse that modern entertainment gets, the more I simply enjoy older books, movies and music.

Physical media forever, the golden age has passed, for about 8 years now I have relied on Tube creators to give me the O Kay before I commit to buy, I dont subscribe to any of the stream sites, use dodgy boxes or watch terrestrial TV, its disc or nothing, however from time to time I will take my boat out for some sailing, this can also result in more disc purchases
