In the original film, Mr McGreggor scared me. In this film, Peter Rabbit scares me

Thank you!, I’m glad someone actually has criticism with this movie

Yeah, you summed up this adaptation pretty accurately. I think that Beatrix herself would be ESPECIALLY insulted by the character who's named after her being the one who enables Peter and the gang to infiltrate McGregor's house and physically abuse him. At least the film being called out for that allergic reaction scene is a sign that there are people who DO care about what they show their kids.

Fun fact: Walt Disney actually wanted to make adaptation of the Peter Rabbit story but the offer was turned down by Beatrix Potter. And if he had gotten the rights to make we could have had a slightly more faithful adaptation of the original story. Though as much as I like this movie I still think Disney should jump on the opportunity to do an adaptation of the Peter Rabbit story that is in comparison more faithful source material. In fact I've actually been writing my own Disney adaptation of this story which is more faithful to source material.

I remember first seeing the trailer for this and my stomach twisting into a knot with anger. Watching this review, I’m livid. I just can’t believe this exists. Like, people DECIDED this was okay. They looked at this source material with a timeless charm and strong dignity to it and do... THIS!!! I mean, The CGI and character models look pretty good. I would have loved to have seen a film that put so much effort into turning so much of our local wildlife into endearing characters and watching them move and be anthropomorphised like they were in the books. So seeing all that potential squandered just really pisses me off to no end. Same thing applies to those beautiful hand-drawn segments that look so similar to the old Peter Rabbit series.
FUCKING HELL!! This is just, beyond belief.

I also loved Peter Rabbit growing up and I bet Beatrix Potter must be spinning in her grave.

Anybody notice that this year was where studios were taking classic britsh properties about cute fluffy mischef making animals(wether intentional or bot ) and bringing them to cgi/live action light to the big screen . this year alone we've had Paddington 2(in the usa anyway). Peter Rabbit, and Christopher robin, with funny enough both Paddington 2 and Christopher robin had Peter Capaldi (the 12th doctor) in them .

As soon as I heard the plot summary, an unbelievable amount of red flags raised for me

A bit late to the party, but I had to sit through this for easter.
Couldn't agree more with the forced pathos that occurs two thirds in. I actually burst out laughing in front of my sister's family when Peter's dad said: "You've got a good heart!" It's hard to root for a character who constantly puts his family in danger for no reason as the film goes out of its way to say there are other ways to get food. Not to mention, Peter thinks he's killed young Mr McGregor twice and celebrates both times without remorse. He does act like a sociopath and this film celebrates that rather than calling it out and giving him true consequences. "Oh my god, how could I have known that pushing this button to blow up our warren would blow up our warren!"

This film also made me sympathize with old Mr McGregor as I wondered how many years of torment he'd had to put up with. I love animals and I would've turned Peter into a pie as well. I encourage anyone to think: would any of this behaviour be funny or charming if he wasn't a cute rabbit.

Solid review as always. I've always been partial to TVC London's Beatrix Potter program "The World of Peter Rabbit & Friends, " which the 2D segments in this thing remind me a great deal of. But alongside the gorgeous pastoral animation are sturdy scripts and masterful musical scores by Colin Towns that make for a surprisingly impactful & even haunting program. Then again, that might just be the brilliance of TVC London showing.

Jambareeqi this film could've been a incredibly faithful adaptation of the books that was made with tons of care, respect and grace and was masterpiece/ grand story with extremes high levels of moral teaching, genuine and great character development, masterful storytelling, clever, mature and splendid humor, three dimensional, charming, sympathetic and heroic characters with so much layers and created with loads of effort, hard work, creativity, intelligence and caution instead it's the 2018 live action equivalent of Calliou and Disney sitcoms. It's like the live action version of Garfield the Movie and The Last Airbender Movie mostly the latter because I grew up with Avatar The Last Airbender and feel like this is reminding of this.

Geez, the animal-traps and electric doorknob parts look downright sadistic. Having people fly across the room in that manner would be funny in something like Kingsman, but it's a PG talking animal film. That guy at 8:22 would be minus a spine and that roof part at 7:12 was apparently made with moon physics. The 2D parts look nice though, too bad it was for this.

Thankfully the books will still be more remembered than Irritating Rabbit.

Why is it that everything that Sony touch immediately burns to death?

I wondered how this movie was because I turned the film off after the house party scene because it was so boring. I also found Peter really annoying and heartless. Great review though m8

I wasn't a Beatrix Potter fan when I was a wee lad but when I I saw the trailer I knew this Film was going to be painful

I loved the animation and the designe in these animals, manages to balance the cuteness with a more modern style very well. However, apart from that there is not much to defend or admire in the film, although it does not infuriate me, it does not hold me too much either.
