Even when I watched The Smurfs as a kid, one thing that annoyed me was how Clumsy's antics were used to push the plot forward or create conflict, like the scene where he accidentally sends the wrong file to the ad agency which puts Patrick's job in danger, yet Clumsy doesn't get punished or even scolded for it which I find to be frustrating. Especially when Grace shames Patrick for getting angry at the Smurfs even though one of them has just gotten Patrick in trouble. I think that Gargamel shoud've found a way to send the wrong file to the ad agency and pin the blame on Patrick and trick him into thinking the Smurfs did it so Patrick kicks them out and makes them more vulnerable to being captured.
