Nothing was "split in half", those are just two separate opinions, and even if those were the two majority opinions (only one of them was), that doesn't mean its halved. If the game is uninteresting, then don't play it. Minecraft has been around since 2009, it has changed, it is never going to ever be the game that people want it to be and to expect that is just simply unrealistic. The game is not a bad game, the developers are not bad people. In fact, I'd argue mojang is better than most devs because at least they try to listen to the community and get feedback from the, they try to engage with the community and yet they are only met with complaining by a very vocal group of people who have nothing better to do than whine and complain about free content updates for nearly 15 year old game that nobody is forcing them to play. If they don't like it, then they don't have to play it, but instead they whine and complain and want unrealistic expectations out of a company that makes new content for free.

As a developer myself, this kind of content is beyond infuriating. This kind of cheap "anti-mojang" content is everywhere and it's actually annoying. Imagine just for a moment how bananas you'd be if no matter what thing you produce, no matter how much you care about it or how much time you put into it or how much thought was put into it, it gets shot down by thousands of very vocal people who whine and complain about it just because they wanted more out of it. You never hear them say that they're grateful they got anything, or that they even like anything else from what you've worked on, it's just constant complaining and its actually sickening. Having made my own minecraft mods, I've had to deal with this on a personal level and after that, my entire view on mojang changed, I understood it and it made me feel like crap.

Mojang is comprised of humans, real living beings that have emotions and feelings and can only do so much. If you want to say "oh well this modder made everything from X update in a single day!", sit down and think about the fact that they don't have to do this for a living, they have no deadlines to meet, they didn't have to come up with the idea or conceptualize it or pitch it to a whole team, or come up with things for it to do, they don't have to work on an engine that is constantly riddled with issues or technical limitations or bugs, and they didn't have model it or texture it.

Working on minecraft isn't as simple as 'adding blocks and items', it's no different than any other game, and you have to maintain it. Modders don't have to deal with any of the things that mojang does, they don't have to fix bugs or even make their creations work on bedrock. Kingbdogz himself, the lead Aether dev, has literally said these same things, and he literally works on Minecraft.

Mojang isn't the problem, Minecraft isn't dying, the community just needs to grow up and get a different hobby. I'm tired of the complaining.

Lego is still popular and is played a lot, Minecraft is like a computer game for Lego. If you're fed up with MC then install a spigot server and get a few plugins, that's how we started playing the game again

The game as it is now is a kitchen sink of content made to entertrain each year the players and keep it relatively alive. No one uses minecoins, theres no dlc, so no money for the corporation for which only money counts. That is what is "killing" mc.

For the people who hate progress. Cool thing is. They have version control that lets you select the exact Version you want. Even lets you host your own server free with a little research. Their opinion on this matter is invalid because this game already caters to that sort of player. Letting them freeze the game in time wherever they wish.

You're assuming that it's still not a sandbox. You can still do anything your imagination is set to within the game, you can still make your own goals and challenges within the game, and make pretty much anything you can with the tools and features it gives you.

People lately complaining about the newer content need to stop assuming that Minecraft is meant to be any one thing outside of a sandbox. Any additional features and content we get is to expand upon the world and give us more to explore and play with. This level of complaining is paramount to a teen getting their first car and complaining that it doesn't have the features or isn't in the color they want. You have a car, just like with this, you have a game where you can do pretty much anything, that's the point of Minecraft. People who are posting doom videos about the game need to stop because the things they are saying are not valid. If the game is adding things you don't like, cool guess what, it's not made for you, it's made for the general audience of the game with a focus on not changing things for various communities for the worse.

Take copper for example, how many people keep complaining that it is useless when it does have a specified use. Copper is a decorative item, and that has been reinforced with the latest update with the trial chambers with how much it's been used to decorate the structure. I've seen many people think that just cause it's another metal, or it was a metal widely used in modded as a tool, or that because it's so abundant that it must have some utility. No, it really does not need to be given utility. The focus on the material is decorative items. To complain about that is the same as to complain that all the stone variants don't have any utility, but no one seems to mind that all the stones are mainly decorative items. Yes, there's stone tools, but that's just a step to go from wood to iron, that's pretty much it for utility. Stones like stone, granite, andesite, diorite, tuff, basalt, etc. all are mainly used as decorative building blocks, and copper has been made to expand on that decorative palette.

Point is, there are so many opinionated takes about specific issues that people see as issues, they don't see the bigger picture and understand why these things are added. It's not always going to be additions that you will like, that's been the case through out the entire development of the game since Notch started posting public versions. Yet, despite all those people who say "oh this is ruining the game" or "Minecraft has run it's course" it still has become the best selling game of all time. The game has always had doom sayers since its inception, and yet it still prevails. So, take a step back and understand that the small issues are not that big a deal, it's still a sandbox and you still can do anything you set your mind to.

I haven't been happy with it since microsoft bought it. There have been some good things but the amount of items/blocks that keep getting added makes it overwhelming for me.
