Young officer shot multiple times in Phoenix

A suspect is in custody after a Phoenix police officer was shot multiple times early Tuesday morning.

I was listening to scanner traffic when this 999 call was broadcasted. There were two vehicles involved. Street racing. One of the vehicles pulled into an apartment complex. It sounded like a supervisor was calling off the search right when shots fired were announced. Then officer down was called. You could hear the emotion in the officers during the incident. The suspect was apprehended immediately after without a struggle. My heart and prayers go out to this officer and I'd like to remind the officers of Phoenix PD that there's an endless amount of support from many of us Phoenix citizens, more than you might even be aware of, and we thank you and are blessed to have you serve on this department. Thank you for your service 🇺🇲

So, apparently, the perpetrator lied to the officer when asked whether he was armed, only to then shoot him execution-style. This is very unfortunate, because it proves cops have to assume the worst, and people will continue to get shot even if they're unarmed. This perpetrator's actions will make the next case of an "unarmed black suspect" appear in a different light, and that hurts the entire community.
