I did yoga before the surgery. Since I had practiced this before it was easy to move from prone to a downward dog position by walking my hands back toward my feet. I could do this on Day 3 of post surgery. Getting was hard, but the floor was easy. I am glad I learned the move before hand

I had no problem getting off the floor after doing my home PT from day one. Surgical knee out straight, make a tripod between hands and good leg and stand up. No furniture/stairs needed. My PT was a bit surprised I wasn't doing the exercises on my bed.

This is the first thing I’ve come across that explains how to get up without putting pressure on your knee!! I’m recovering from internal fixation surgery and am in a lot of pain. This is SO helpful. Thank you so much!!

When I fell in room, I dragged myself to my recliner sofa, leaned on it & pressed button to raise the foot recliner till it lifted me enough to be able to get up...

I deliberately practiced getting up from the ground/floor. At 75 I wanted to be prepared for recovery from a non-injury fall, which did occur twice while shoveling snow 8 weeks left leg and 16 weeks right leg post op. I had bilateral knee replacement sequenced 8 weeks apart. To practice I simply rolled onto my stomach and did a push-up. Once in the push up position I would walk my hands back towards my feet until I was in a "jacknife" position, then I raise up my head and torso into the upright position. Basically the reverse of bending over to touch ones toes.
Thank you for your videos . Even now 12 and 20 weeks post op I am learning so much on ways to improve my rehab because you care and share.

What if you have both knees replaced? I fell on my replaced knees on concrete, thankfully there were 2 people who helped me up. I can't imagine how I would have got myself up alone!

Awesome I stayed there until I got help. Pastor Tim is thin and was strong enough to get me up, thank you Jesus for sending me help..I prayed silently and God answered my prayers.

How do you get up from a fall with both knees having TKR?

I fell on my TKR surgery on concrete and split it open had to be transported to the hospital and had surgery to wash out and check that I had no damage to the appliance. I was home 2 days later and have been set back on my rehab, my knee is extremely stiff and I am having to push myself to do my rehab. It’s been 4weeks since I fell and the pain is manageable but I am concerned that I have scar adhesion as it is very hard to bend past 80deg. I’m hopeful that eventually I will recover.

This video was very helpful I did a lot of the things you talked about but because the floor was wet I first needed a dry floor and hands to work with.

Thanks Tony for another GREAT video!
I went home with exercises to do the first week! One said get on the floor; so I did by sliding off the sofa. I tried to get up by lifting myself using my arms with my back to the sofa. No good so I did what Tony did by the demo on the ottoman. The second time I was able to use my arms. I told the hospital PT and he said NO floor....exercise on the bed!😁 My hubby wanted to help me but I said this is practice just in case!

Tony your steps need carpet strips to help you & family not to fall down. You are on your on with the ice!
