The original Brat flashed in a split second at 1:35 and 1:38 looks better and more modern than the so called new Brat pick-ups.
Subaru could have saved a fortune and just re-released the original with a modern safety upgrades. It worked well for Volkswagen and Citroen DCV. Ford will reintroduce the Ford Focus and GMH the Small Chevrolet in 2024 to 2025.

subaru brat as a stick shift will last forever. with a cvt transmission maybe 10 yrs, maybe. base should be a five speed or six speed manual stick shift transmission. if people want a cvt, offer it, but, base needs to be a stick. got it subaru? get it. good

If it could have an option for a naturally aspirated V6 engine I would very much consider buying it.
I’m not a fan of a turbo engine in a medium size vehicle or any vehicle expect a tractor like a MAC truck.

The Brat is supposed to be a small economical 2 litre, 2 door farm ute (pick-up) able to carry some bales of hay out into the paddock, and carry some tools in the tray, nice to carry home shopping from the supermarket, and comfortable enough to take out a date on Saturday night. They were popular for tent campers, for taking surf boards to the beach and very economical about town.
Americans have cheap petrol compared to most of the world, high speed highways 20mph faster than most countries, and they seem to need a huge hump in front with a V8 growl to impress the masses. To have a small pick-up seems totally unacceptable to Americans. The problem is, America dictates what the world gets.
Where is the objective comparison with the original Brat and the new Brat?
