About Commodore Vijaypal Singh Rawat:
During his long tenure in the Indian Navy, he has served as Training Officer at Naval Diving School, Kochi, Staff Officer in Marine Commando Unit, Naval Headquarters and Command Headquarters handling special operations and mine clearance diving aspects. He commanded Indian Naval Ship Gomati, a Guided Missile Frigate based in Mumbai between 2011-2012 and Indian Naval Ship Guldar, a Landing Ship Tank based in Port Blair between 2004-2006. His ship Guldar was extensively deployed for post Tsunami relief operations in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands providing relief material and construction material to these islands. Later, he commanded the elite Marine Commando Unit on the eastern seaboard.
He has been part of various naval operations including special operations and was deployed as part of the Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka. He has also planned and coordinated various Naval Special Warfare operations as a higher-level planner.
