What can we learn from Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his own son Isaac?

Want to read through the bible #withme. While we stay at home, it's a good time to dig into God's Word. So grab a bible and open it to Genesis 22.

In God’s testing of our faith it will reveal just how solid our relationship with Him is truly.

Confidence in God. Abraham knew that God had promised to create a great nation through Issac. For this reason, Abraham knew that God would either deliver Isaac from death or resurrect him following his death. Either way, God would keep his word. Jesus also trusted God in the face of impending death.

To add to the already amazing commentary, I believe Abraham trusted God because Abraham already knew the feeling of what disobeying and not trusting in God's word produces...AKA Ishmael. After everything Abraham has gone through he has become wiser and has increased his faith in the Lord. Now, my question is why test Abraham when he clearly is now living for the Lord? The first verse I thought of was James 1:2-4: " 2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces [a]patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be [b]perfect and complete, lacking nothing." God will test our faith not because he's a mean God, but because of who we will become on the other side of that test. The key is, we need to get to the other side of the test. I feel as though God will give us the same test until we pass it to develop the character, patience, tenderness needed to be promoted to the next level. God was preparing Abraham to lead a great nation!
